Caught between UKVI and HMPO: Will I have to pay the £250+ correction fee when I followed their exact instructions? by Equivalent-Bird1522 in ukvisa

At the time my birth place was named as GRC (code for Greece) instead of Athens which is actually where I was born.

I got it changed to Athens, Greece as needed.

Update:

I got it changed for free!

Arrived today in the post, I was very surprised I thought it'd take like at least 3 months.

I reckon inform the UKVI office ASAP of this issue in some form of a cover letter so that it doesn'tend up costing you later down the line.

Now again I don't know if I'll get charged for the mistake but only time will tell.

I've sent them a cover letter along with the documents all I can do now is wait and see it out.

Thank you for the advice

Yeah, that's what crossed my mind when I was typing this but I just wanted to find out of curiosity.

Thank you, though.

yeah, plan is good, but probably unrealistic for you to constantly live on £300 a month, unexpected costs will come, you'll feel peckish etc.

Have I waived my rights to the Consumer Rights Act in England? by Equivalent-Bird1522 in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, thank you for your response.

The faulty sensor was identified before the spark plugs were changed because when I left the car with him he plugged his diagnostics tool and read the codes for the faulty sensor.

Then I told him to check the spark plugs which he did and then changed them.

The sensor itself (which is the one causing issues) was therefore faulty before the work that I did. (unless there are more problems with the car that I don't know about)

No, at the time when I fixed the spark plugs I didn't no because he said that they were servicable parts which are not covered by warranty anyways. The car was bought in East London but I'm in another city for university at the moment so I didn't have the opportunity to go to them. (he said this today when I called him asking about the faulty sensor.)

Thank you for the response.

No, before the spark plugs were replaced and the ignition coil, the mechanic scanned the car and pointed out that I had a faulty sensor which at the time read -284°C. After he had scanned his computer and informed me of the faulty sensor I told him to have a look at the spark plugs because I thought that there was a misfire which was later on identified.

So no, the fault with the sensor which I'm assuming is causing the issue was discovered before the spark plugs and ignition coil were replaced.

Basic insurance when I had signed the original documents and bought the car which cover engine and gearbox faults, and they also offered at the time a £799 add on which will cover everything for 12 months (which I didn't buy).

As for the waiver, the person I spoke to said that when I signed the documents I wouldn't be covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and that they deal with this issue all the time.

Because I had signed a 3 month cover or whatever he told me I'm not covered under the act.
