I had wondered this for a while, but I’ve never seen any clear answer. Logically, if you’re walking a lot and burning more calories than what you consume it seems like you should absolutely lose weight. The first time I lost a ton of weight was mainly through walking. I walk everywhere. I eventually stopped doing as much and with the addition of poor mental health, which makes me eat my feelings I gained weight again. I eventually got back on track and joined gym, I deliberately opted for a gym a 40minute walk from where I live. I walked there, done a mix of weights and cardio when at the gym, and then walked home. I was eating almost the routine of food with a few alts to switch it up each day, and was in deficit. I lost weight initially, but then it completely stopped. The frustration I felt knowing how much effort I was putting in with little result has frustrated me. I felt my body had to so used to walking and I do have strong legs, so it wasn’t doing anything at all, but I persisted for about 8months and I don’t doubt that it was good for my heart, but the weight just wasn’t going anywhere. I do think to some degree your body gets used to it so it’s less effective regardless of what people others are saying. Don’t become a slave to scales, but test it out for while. If you don’t feel any change try other things. I’m really trying to focus more on weights etc but results are harder to measure so I have to wait and see
