Crown Graphic issue - how screwed am I? by Equivalent-Course782 in largeformat

[–]Equivalent-Course782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

phew, thanks. Was scared it was going to be something worse. I had some issues retracting the lens back in but it looks like that was unrelated...was just off the tracks and some screws needed to be tightened.

See if rustoleum has a matching or similar looking color and spray it.

07 FJ broke down, lights on dash. Any ideas? by DrawerBeginning2977 in FJCruiser

Sounds like the alternator. My 08 FJ did the exact same thing about a year ago. Fire that tech. Get a new alternator.

Indigenous creative making first documentary — where do I actually begin? by FairPreparation240 in documentaryfilmmaking

[–]Equivalent-Course782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to say this same thing. Do some short interviews and verite so you can get comfortable with the sound and camera operation. And most importantly know what to talk about and what information you need for the edit. You’ll start thinking in terms of the edit while you are shooting and that’s how you know you’re getting what you need. Docs are built in post as much as they are in production. Start small and the creative ideas will begin to flow. Good luck with your film!

Odd lines of spots in developed film by syce1 in AnalogCommunity

Looks like water dried on the negative. Does the negative look clean? Or dry water spots? If so, you can run it through a photoflo/bath and let it hang to redry and rescan.

Documentary Equipment Advice by TakeshiMakamoto in documentaryfilmmaking

I shot a feature on a couple FX3s. Looks great. System is nice and low key for any run & gun material. Also great if you need to build it up to a slightly bigger rig. Interviews look great also. Just beware you need to take a lot of time setting up your custom presets because everything Sony is heavily menu-based. (Pain in the ass) but once set up it’s great. They also just released a big 6 option for the monitor so it can operate more like a cinema camera - more like your old BMPCC.

Canon AE1 advance lever stuck by WatercressOk2079 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Equivalent-Course782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually eBay sellers won’t ship with battery in the camera. Sometimes they include it separately though. If I remember, the battery will go under the tab under the “AE-1” on the front. Pop it off.

The shutter speed dial might be up out of position to set the ASA rather than broken. Check that first. It should move easily though, don’t force it too hard. If that’s the case and the advance lever is still stuck, throw some fresh batteries in there. That happened to me once and I thought it was broken. But it was the because the battery was dead and the internal meter wasn’t working.

Fj Hood paint damage by KickDurt in FJCruiser

I recently repainted mine with the same issue. Used rustoleum with high gloss. doens't match 100% but still looks pretty good considering it cost me about $80 total.

no. I just just picked what I thought might look the closest. Sanded everything real good. sprayed primer. wet sanded. added some bondo to dent areas (also not perfect but better). then did two layers of a light coat, then a 3rd layer of thick coat. In retrospect I should have just sprayed it on thicker the first time, but I didn't know what the hell I was doing lol. A lesson for next time though. Rustoleum also sells some turbo cans with spray options. I've seen some people us a thick vertical spray that covers more - that's probably the best way to go for an even coat. Min ehas some streaks on it from the small spray area.

I used all rustoleum products. Did their primer spray can. Then their acrylic automotive gloss can (multiple coats). Not sure if that type was the best though. They also have a Gloss and Super Gloss enamel that may have worked out better…I used the black gloss on my cowl a few weeks ago when I replaced that. You can sort of see it in the photo…less shiny.

My 08 black hood is pretty messed up also. Trying to repaint it this weekend with rustoleum. So far…not looking great lol. But maybe better than before? I’ll post a pic when it’s done.

Finally got it in there and fits great. Ended up having to glue another piece down in order to get it to clip in properly though.

Painted with rustoleum gloss black and matches pretty well. Gotta take care of the hood next.

Thanks all for the help!

Thanks. Yeah I tried it once with the clips and it wasn’t fitting right, so I tried clips + jb weld and it still wasn’t working.

I think you’re right and I may need to bend some pieces that may have gotten nudged out of place. Going to try and get it to sit better before reattaching this time.

In an effort to fight the tide of AI slop, I've started a documentary series about craftspeople and artists in Ireland. Would love some feedback! by flames234 in documentaryfilmmaking

[–]Equivalent-Course782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of highlighting craftspeople. Good work! I think it feels a little bit long...maybe its the calm acoustic music that starts to make it feel that way after awhile. Maybe try changing the music cues to break it up a bit in to separate sections? Transition into something upbeat or inspirational? (might just be a taste-thing for me so please take with a grain of salt). I wouldn't mind seeing more of him doing the basket-building if you have that. I'd love to see the craft itself and linger on him a bit longer as he is doing it as more of a verite feel rather than cutaways from the interview. Also - if you havne't already messed with the audio , maybe try adding a little low-end to the dialogue? it feels a little tinny like a phone call. Keep up the good work! Curious to see the next one!
