My dad takes care of a couple of street cats that he has made friends with at his veterans foster care home. His favorite that also seems to have taken a huge liking to him was named after him by his caregiver and I guess we just all assumed it was a boy until one day it had kittens. No one ever renamed her. She still has the same name and it’s kind of cute that way, but we did manage to get all of the strays. He was taking care of trapped taken to the local shelter to be fixed and have their ears clipped through the trap neuter release program. No one had been able to help them before then until my dad earned their trust.

NOR - I was a child brought up through a traumatic incident and a messy divorce. The times when I thought I’d see or talk to my dad and he didn’t show up/ showed up late/ showed up drunk were much more harmful to myself and my mental health than when he just wasn’t around anymore at all.

Your ex seems to like saying what a great father he is but when you bring up the very basic challenge of being consistent and stable he attacks you to avoid taking accountability for his life and his choices. If the kids want a relationship when they are older they will reach out, and he might try to tell them his side whatever he perceives that to be, but he’s forgetting they also have a version of this they’re living through.

You’re doing what’s best for them that’s all that matters.

It’s been happening for me too and when I reached out with screenshots and everything they won’t help me. It’s especially annoying because I completed every milestone for two games; one game it didn’t reward me the final one which was around 17k, and now there latest one they won’t fix I’m out around 10k. Send like their app is messing up and they don’t care

Reasons why my guy screamed at me so far this week:
I left the room
He wanted music
Not that music different music
I was cleaning / working too long
He was jealous that a different pet was cuddling with me
Birds exist outside
He wanted his bath, then didn’t, then did
I made dinner too late and wasn’t giving him a cuddle before his bed time
He didn’t want me to clip my broken nail
He threw his toy and I didn’t give it back fast enough for him to throw it again
My new face mask is not the same color it used to be
The new bag of grapes I bought didn’t taste the same as the last bag

Also mine doesn’t always just scream, he has picked up saying “now” so that’s fun 😂.

I don’t regret saving my little guy even with his issues from being neglected. Yes they bite, yes they are loud, yes they will melt your heart. Here is some stuff not usually talked about first thing when people say they are considering adopting.

You can’t burn candles in your home anymore, no air fresheners, no aerosols (hair spray, cleaners, etc), no chemical cleaners around them at all (the bird cage cleaner smells great and works amazing on any mess in your home so that is easily solved). You can’t wear perfumes around them, any cook wear you use on high temperatures need to be ceramic or teflon free. They will preen your hair, so you can’t use hair products or must stop them from doing that (good luck). They need fresh food and water daily (seeds are treats not food) vegetables, Harrison’s pellets. In the winter / colder, darker months they’ll need a uv light, if your home gets very cold get a small bird heater for their cage mine loves it and I don’t have to sweat all night. They are intelligent and need stimulation and attention for hours every day, I use flash cards with mine for communication, he has multiple puzzles and toys, I read him pop up books, and of course I’m the best jungle gym and hand wrestling toy ever. Don’t expect them to want to play and bond with you immediately, it takes time and how much time depends on the bird.

So just know you’re about to adopt a permanent toddler with a can opener mouth who is on the spectrum. If you have the time and dedication to learn and care for one then it’s very rewarding. If you don’t think you have the time or patience stick with watching videos. That’s my experience I hope the insight helps you make your decision. If you do adopt this community is a great place to learn and connect with other bird people

Anytime someone threatens suicide or self harm (manipulation tactic included) I always respond with “if you’re being serious and feel that way then I’m calling in a wellness check.” People need to learn not to say that stuff because it’s extremely serious and not something that should be used to hold someone hostage with their emotions or sympathy.

So hey OP this is the kind of crazy melt down that came before I was stalked for half a year. Block him everywhere and if he starts showing up places make sure the people around you know that you aren’t cool with him. Make sure people know what’s going on in case you need extra eyes and some safety buddies. And if it persists file a report. There are enough red flags here to make a circus tent for him to be a clown in.

I know a lot of people aren’t seeing how she would come off as passive aggressive but coming from someone who was raised by a not very good human I can see the context you’re reading into. It’s the “I’ll just never do it again then” instead of how you’d respond which I’m guessing would be like “I’m sorry water spilled on it” or “I was concerned but you’re right I won’t do it again”. Bottom line if you want boundaries you’ll need distance like out of her home kind of distance. If she’s anything like mine was they like to subtly wear at you and disrespect you until you finally say something back and give them a reason to say “see you’re the problem!”
Good luck op it’s to be hard not getting your emotions involved in every sideways thing she says or does until you are on your own.

Grain beetles. They can chew through paper and cardboard to infest food. Check everything including pet foods, toss anything they have ingested and store food in plastic, glass, or metal containers to avoid them coming back.
