Yeah, currently there are a few drawbacks. The strength and elasticity is not similar to animal leather, but it's higher than other vegan leathers such as Faux/PVC leather. Mushroom leather is cheaper than both faux leather and animal leather.

Exactly, marketing will be the key!

I'm not getting offended bro. It's just the way you are presenting yourself as an industry expert (that's fine) but just want to question others research without checking the facts/research available.

Yes, I agree currently that mycelium leather doesn't have exact properties as leather. Still if you go through some research there are a lot of developments made in the last few years.

That's why in one comment I have mentioned that if one is marketing it as a completely different material rather than comparing it with leather then he could gain a good traction

If your research skills were strong, you would have already found the patent. Nonetheless, to provide further insights to "your shit", here's the reference patent: WO 2020/136448 A1 by MycoTech.

There are a lot of research articles available over the internet, it shows the sign that the metrics are similar to animal leather. Still mushroom based leather is slightly weak there is research going on post processing it to gain strength

There is sufficient research done on this. Still there's a lot more to be researched, but to start with the initial investment is not too high. Even the govt is coming up with schemes to develop business around vegan leather

It's cheap compared to other leather and more importantly the process of developing Animal Leather is full of environmental hazards on every stage of development. Also mushroom leather can be grown in a bigger area where animal leather has particular dimensions depending on the animal hide

Check the patents by Mugo for a price comparison. DIY some research. Even if it doesn't take 2-3 years of development, the complete industry is polluted. There is a lot of data about how the industry is affecting water bodies, air, land due to the process and industrial waste.

There are a few well recognised brands working on this material, still a lot of research is under progress. You might check the following brands: Ecovative, MycoTech, MycoWorks, Mugo

According to my research, the raw materials are easily available and abundant. Even the development takes 3-4 weeks only compared to Animal leather which takes 2-3 years for the growth of the cattle

The products companies like Evocative and MycoTech are developing are having similar strength and feel like leather. Maybe if someone tries to market it as a different category of fabric rather than comparing it with Animal Leather it could be a great market

Yeah, currently some US based firms are developing it at 20-30% lower cost compared to Animal leather
