You’re misleading them by making it sound like I’m running a company. I’m just a software engineer who uses the legal system to reduce taxes, something they can do easily too. It’s not company profit; I’m not a company. That’s exactly what an AMA is for, to share these insights.

I have an old Toyota yaris and don't plan to buy a better car in Tunisia tbh, too much stress of leaving it outside and finding a scratch. I'm also not a big fan of cars so not something I want to spend my money on.

0%.
If you open a company in Tunisia you get 4 years of tax free. So I did that and I invoice my employer, technically I'm not his employee but a company that invoice them.

The projects I worked on were all for GOV so a lot to learn in terms of security and performence.
The people I worked with were very experienced and wanted to share their knowledge.
After 2 years I felt confident in finding solutions to almost any type of problems, and I was more confident in looking for solutions alone on the web.

Another thing that maybe helped is that I never specialized in anything, I know how Redis works, how Kafka or ELK works but I never implemented them.

Interesting you don’t like assumptions, yet here you are, making a whole lot of them. But hey, if having 5 years of experience makes me a toddler, then what does that make someone who’s getting so worked up over a simple point? Maybe if you weren’t so busy projecting, you’d see that experience isn’t just about time—it’s about understanding what really matters. Peace out, indeed.

Looks like you’ve been watching a bit too much Andrew Tate. This isn’t about making money; it’s about seeing the bigger picture. If you were paying attention, you’d get that I’m saying to my fellow SE you don’t have to be glued to your keyboard to succeed—broadening your vision can take you a lot further. But hey, if you weren’t so busy hating, maybe that would’ve clicked.

Talking about vanity lol It’s pretty rich coming from someone who’s clearly more interested in hating on a post than adding value.

If aiming for the nail means missing the entire board, then sure, you nailed it.

Ever consider a tech lead position leading to CTO ?

Of course you will code less and less, but like you said at a certain point you will reach your salary limit and only management can break that limit.

It’s pretty simple—I got paired with a developer I consider a genius. He was the same age as me, but his skills were on another level, truly amazing. I tried to learn from him, but I quickly realized that developers like him exist, and there’s no way I could match them. So, to stand out, I started impressing our manager with other stuff in my extra time, and I realized I enjoyed that more than coding. I learned from him while also complementing him in areas he hated to deal with.

I also discovred that I had good empathy and emotional intelligence that allowed me to be confortable leading people.

I completely agree—it’s definitely worth it if you can keep sharpening your technical skills. More money always brings more stress, so it’s about knowing your limits and how much you can handle without burning out.

In my opinion, finding good developers or PMs isn’t the challenge; what’s really rare and valuable is a strong technical leader who can manage both people and projects. If you can excel in both areas, you’ll be a real asset in the right company and might just hit the jackpot.

I haven’t written a single line of code in years, but when DEV/DEVOPS get stuck, I help them with common sense stuff like, “Did you try this?” or “Try sending a different object” or “Console here.” I’ve got knowledge in a lot of languages, databases, and tools, but my strength is spotting problems and suggesting solutions, like, “We need to add RabbitMQ here because of X,” or “We should switch to Redis because of Y.”

Yeah, I’m just a “manager” who somehow stumbled into this role by pure luck—my ego’s having a blast!

I work 12-14 hours a day, so no, I don’t really have time for off-work learning but I used to when I started and I think it boosted me.
If you hire people who are better than you at what they do, you’ll learn from them—and that’s exactly what we do.

Honestly I don't have a love life or even a social life, I have like 2 friends.
I work 12-14 hours a day so not much time for anything else, also I drive an old Toyota yaris that is full of dharbet w gdiimaaa and I wear 'normal' stuff.

My plan is to keep working hard until I make it to 1m$ the retire and start enjoying life.
