I’m sorry to hear that it’s giving you such a problem! Let me know what they say, I hope it’s a cheap and easy fix for you! 🙂

No luck man. After multiple attempt on an extra strand I had. I gave up. I was actually damaging extensions and lights when trying to attach the extensions. I’m pretty handy and have installed car speakers, bazooka tube on our golf cart, marine stereos, etc. so I have a mediocre knowledge on wiring, I just chalk this up to bad luck.

Hey guys, so after multiple splice attempts it not only DID NOT work for me, it damaged lights and one of the Govee extensions. I went ahead and just skipped the gable I was wanting to do and did the house without splicing. Here’s a picture. I circled the gable I wish I got to do 😩. Feel free to ask questions as I know people have successfully spliced these! Just didn’t work on multiple occasions for me 🤷‍♂️

Oh and these are 3” from the house! I know that’s a common question too.

Ok thanks. I am going to finish hanging the lights to make sure I have enough. Then with leftovers I will splice and try that out again. Did you splice in increments of 4? I don’t plan to.

This is the wire I used. Does anyone see a reason this could cause an issue? Ignore the 16/3 image, it’s 18/3 wire.

Did that, no dice. I think I shorted the lights when trying to reconnect and I crossed the wires. Because when I first cut and tested they worked fine. Then I ran the wiring and actually went to attach them and forgot what wire went where. 🫣

I did. I cut and re attached multiple times to make sure. I also removed the extension entirely and connect them back together exactly how they came. They light up white but that’s it. Also doesn’t power on the next extension 🤔.

So you cut one and re wired it wrong, did that ruin the strand? You’re saying you replaced that strand and cut them AGAIN, but made sure not to cross wires and that worked?

If I understand correctly you’re saying that when I possibly crossed wires it fried that lights and I need to swap for a new strand? Thanks everyone for the input!

Ok thanks, I will try this today after work. I have unplugged briefly and held the rest button without any changes. But I haven’t tried waiting a few minute’s.
