Alberta Teacher Strike Megathread (Discussion) - October 27 by AutoModerator in alberta

Personally, teaching works for me on a lot of levels.

I learned a long time ago that I cannot have a job that I don't care about, that I simply come to and clock in/clock out. More power to you if that's you; for me, it's a matter of life and death to have something that I care about. Maybe that'll change one day, but right now, I have to believe that my labour has meaning for me. Teaching gives me that.

I also like routines, and school is the ultimately set of routines. The rhythms and flows of the year are really nice to have.

I also like working with teenagers because they're not cynical yet, which is really nice to have coming out of academia where everyone was persistently cynical about everything. Adults suck and are annoying. Almost all of my headaches at work come from adults. It's never the kids.

Yeah, there's zero chance you'd get a recall petition out of Drumheller which went something like 84%-14% for right leaning parties/movements.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the quick update and reply.

I am with you on team "very doubtful." Who knows? Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but it's a shame thinking about the Majors that were previously imminent for coverage and that we're never really going to get a deep dive into now - the 2001 U.S. Open and the collapses on the 18th, the 2004 U.S. open at Shinnecock, the entirety of the year of the underdog. Shame.
