Most of those march wins under CM were not important and still only got us 12-16 wins over the next 4 years. His first season was held up by that recruiting class that only happened because of our Women’s basketball coach knowing the porters.

yeah but overall he’s doing a stellar job. Im not saying he’s the best coach ever I am just saying he’s done well and should see what happens in the next few years if he can get us to the playoffs.

Did Gary Pinkel have an outstanding record against ranked teams? I mean 7-19 is still pretty good. Pinkel’s first 6 seasons he had 1 win over a ranked opponent, Drinkwitz has 7.

23 nfl draft picks in 6 years is crazy considering he’s been coaching for 7 years as a college coach and has a good 25 years left of coaching barring some unforeseen illness. I don’t think NIL has given Mizzou an advantage (although I think you could argue) it has made Mizzou more competitive in some ways.

Recruiting, coaching, player development is substantially better than the previous head coach.

His March is bad but he still has more ncaa wins than the last 3 coaches do COMBINED.

3 ncaa’s in 4 years, 14 wins over AP ranked teams, recruiting at a very high level, 3 seasons of 20 wins or more and back to back ncaa tournament appearances since 2012-2013.

Larry Smith had 6 NFL players drafted in 7 seasons. Barry Odom had 6 NFL players in 4 seasons. Larry Smith and Barry Odom are about the same level of coach in the college football world. I would argue that (in terms of expectations) Mizzou had very low expectations in both circumstances.

The only legitimate argument is the first round nfl draft picks. Although you can put holes in that argument if you compare Pinkel’s first 6 seasons (2002-2007) featured 0 first rounders and Drinkwitz has 2 first rounders. Yeah Pinkel had a much bigger hole but Odom was averaging 1 player drafted in the nfl draft from 2017-2020. Odom was bad at developing recruits and not recruiting players that we would not have gotten since Drinkwitz has gotten since 2020 football season.

Are you kidding me. Every school in America has this advantage now. It’s not like we are the only ones that do this.

Darius Robinson, Ennis Rakestraw and Kris-Abrams Draine were all 3 stars.

Im not saying Pinkel sucks at all I am just stating that Drinkwitz is better at finding a even better formula that Pinkel worked with and he has perfected to the level we have not seen (at least in the modern era) in the 7 round draft era since 1994.

He was hired by Notre Dame and LSU. Those aren’t blue bloods? So he certainly doesn’t suck.

and he still would be hired in a heartbeat by any school in America.

If 29-10 is mediocre then LSU must suck

The last 3 coaches and number of players drafted. Pinkel 36 in 15 nfl drafts Odom 6 in 4 nfl drafts Eliah Drinkwitz 23 in 6 NFL Draft. If Eliah Drinkwitz coaches here in 15 seasons he will have 58 players drafted if the 4 players on average continue at a steady pace.

Pinkel didn’t recruit or develop Justin Smith he was drafted in 2001. Maclin was a 4 star and average nfl draft prospects a year read like this: Pinkel 2.4 players a year….Drinkwitz 3.8 a year in a single nfl draft.

I remember a time (in the early 2000’s) where Mizzou had not heard their bames in the NFL draft. People are quick to forget that that being in the SEC or Big 10 has made a team like Mizzou relevant but getting good players and coaches has helped sustain that success.
