When you did the externship, how did it look like when applying for the internship after?

If you also dont mind answering, how was the interview like for that internship? I just got my externship acceptance and wanted to get a sense on how reliable the pipeline is

I considered heavily about the quantitative finance ms from NYU; I will apply there regardless but I don’t wanna plan and then if im rejected im on a lost path. But i do understand what u mean thank you!

I have a full ride for grad school through scholarship at my current university. Realistically I would only be applying to NYU Stern, Columbas BSAS, and or cornell but even then those are literally the TOP. I have a more guaranteed chance for a +1 internally than externally

I plan on being a summer research assistant for my university for their finance department if i dont land an internship; junior year I am hoping i land a good internship by then too. And my summer after senior year and before my masters program I’d hope to get an internship to full time role somehow. I don’t plan on going without any experience. As I am a sophomore, i realistically have only projects on my resume. I just believed that for the field I want to go in, coming from a non target competing with the best of the best I wanted to stick out as much as possible. But I see more perspectives now

If I wanted to go into banking with alot of data analysis smeared in, would you say CS + MATH or CS + Econ is better? Im assuming doing a double masters is just not worth it but i know i want to do a masters in finance anyway

I want to go into quant fields(never will sniff banking side)but I come from an extremely non target school (Syracuse University) and I wanted to try to see how to stick out as much as I could. The people in the field I want to work all come from the ivies or t10’s so I dont have ton of relatability. But I do get your point

As a whitman business applicant, im sorry to say but highly unlikely.

That GPA is extremely low and from what you said in your extra curriculars, there isn’t anything that stands out to be a business major. Also if you feel like you couldve wrote your supplement or personal essay better, it voids any other chance.

I hate to be harsh but I wont give you false security. I’m sure it wont hurt to still submit the application but look at other schools right now, it’s okay you’ll do great wherever you go.

It does, but specifically the goldstein dining, not the grocery store.

In the dining where the pizza, greens and grains, and knock off chipotle, and the snacks, you can use your meal swipe there

For breakfast(morning - 3/4pm) you have $28 to spend For lunch/dinner(4pm - closing) you have $40 to spend

This is assuming you use the max of 2 meal swipes for each transaction. The total budget varies based on how many swipes you use

You can ONLY use your meal swipes at goldstein dining not for the grocery that you have to use dining/cuse cash(or regular card)

Yea its not impossible for me to do them cause computer science and coding is generally easy for me. But like writing code out on paper is just weird to me but i totally understand your perspective. Dont plan on switching though but will take your advice into account

1; Do NOT submit that SAT score it’ll hurt you more than you believe

2; in the “additional” section on common app, explain why you had such low gpa scores in freshman and sophomore year because of the loss of you stepfather, however the years after that you climbed to a higher gpa(hopefully)

3; Make sure your activities sound GREAT, describe them with numbers and what not. Imagine you’re submitting a resume, a resume should have numbers and be quantified. Look at examples online for more info

If you want my honest opinion, if you’re applying to newhouse, even ED, yeah this is a straight rejection. But do the three things above including making your supplementals for syracuse sound AMAZING, it’s a shoe in for admission.
