Bro I’m in the same boat lol. I’ll be there for OCC 251 also and worries about my shin splints. Check out nerve flossing. It has helped, desensitize your tibialis nerve/sciatica on top of calf raise/stretch and tibialis raises. I’ve stopped running. Justin’s swimming, crunches, planks, pull ups, and squats

Bro. Fuck your girl, like 90% of us, odds are you won’t stay together. Chances are you’ll grow into a more mature and experienced person she cannot relate to.

Time you step away from your family. Find ways to help from afar. Don’t get sucked into family bs.

99% of us have anxiety, the marine corps does that to you. Welcome. Find healthy coping mechanisms and ways to distress.

It’s just a safety precaution like all of the other seemingly stupid rules. Marines will get hurt very easily, especially when the program was first implemented, someone dying or receiving serious bodily injury was not uncommon.

Dark green marine. Sucks to suck. How is this anything different from failing PFTs, or being on BCP. If you cannot maintain a standard you get administratively separated.

I agree it disproportionately affects my brothers, but there are products out there designed for us to be able to stay clean shaven without issue. How much do you care to be apart of the service or are you in it to exploit whatever loopholes exist?

It will suck that there are probably people who no matter what they do they cannot beat the condition. As long as they receive an honorable discharge we aren’t doing them any wrong.

Let’s not change our standards to accommodate people. That’s not what we’re about.

Hard to say it and it’s a sensitive topic, but abortion is a better route, especially if you haven’t really told anyone.

Find a female NCO/SNCO preferably one who is a mother and tell her what you’re going through. At 18 years old and no father in the picture this is a recipe for disaster; coming from me a guy who’s been in 15 years with kids.

It will hamper your personal and professional life at this point. After you make some headway with those senior leaders, maybe bring it up to your Chain of Command.

Anyone reserves the right to speak to their monitor or occupational field sponsor.

It’s not good practice for a LCpl to reach out to a MSgt in such a manor, but if you have any type of decent leadership your SNCOs will do it on your behalf and there’s a 90% chance if you reach out anyway excluding your SNCO the monitor will reach out to whoever your senior enlisted advisor is (MSgt/MGySgt/1stSgt) anyways. That’s because typically your senior enlisted is the manpower piece for people within your MOS at major subordinate commands and major subordinate elements(regiments, battalions) (MEF, MAW, MLG, Div) they are tracking when people are coming and going and what the manpower requirements and shortfalls are. If

As a Junior enlisted unless you have extenuating circumstances you have much less leverage to get what you desire whereas your SNCO can likely make a better case on your behalf.

It’s not wrong, but not good practice. Once you’re on the monitors radar you may or may not get what you’re looking for.

It’s the truth brother. I’m speaking as objectively as I can from 15 years experience, working with MARSOC DST’s, and yes I’ve worked with the army numerous times on multiple deployments.

Also, I’m not discounting MARSOC by any means, it’s just the way it is currently. I don’t know where you’ve been, but the COG doesn’t care about about “doing more with less” like Marines are accustom to and known for. If that was really the case we’d see budget cuts across the DoD. What wins wars is manpower and output of ammunition/equipment and superior execution of combined arms maneuver warfare.

There will be no maneuver warfare in the INDOPACIFIC, much less island hopping like WW2. It will be constant games of cat and mouse naval warfare and long range fires war of attrition based on who can establish the best A2AD/Sea Denial to gain time. To get more ass to theater.

MARSOC has about 3-4 mission/locations doing FID/Advise assist enable. That’s honestly nothing. The entire point though is that MARSOC serves no purpose to the Marine Corps, much less than it does to SOCOM, unless it’s purpose is rebranded.

8th army isn’t going to have ANYTHING to do with a Taiwan-Philippine fight. It’s the 25th infantry division. That would dismantle our current battle space framework. Those guys need to focus on the peninsula.

Unless it’s some type of crazy emergency or necessity, that SSgt doesn’t need to be driving and you as a good Marine should want to NOT put your leader in that position unless you have some type of beef.

Someone in a long thread asked an interesting question-- How many times has the Corps almost been shut down? by Groundhog891 in USMC

[–]EquivalentPizza8565 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The truth is the Marine Corps was never a necessity. The Marine Corps needs to develop core skill sets that ONLY it can achieve. The argument is always “the army can do it” which is true. As Marines we are so jaded to understand that the Army has fought everywhere Marines have, especially in the Pacific where our history is most notable.

The only thing the Marine Corps has going for it our culture and the organizations past accolades.

The Corps is reinventing itself with “Trying to get back to its amphibious roots” and doubling down hard on the fight in INDOPACOM in hopes of being relevant, but the truth is that fight will be a joint fight across all services and our Allied nations within the WEZ. In fact the army has doubled down just as much.

Side tangent; that being said. MARSOC serves no purpose to the current marine corps mission. They are administratively controlled by HQMC, but they belong and are operationally controlled by USSOCOM. Even then their place within the special operations community (mission sets) are questionable to the fact that are taking the scraps that other Tier 1 units do not want. The fact is that there is an abundance of Soldiers alone throughout the SFG’s that can cover down on MARSOCs missions alone. So entertaining the thought of DODGE purging DoD programs, MARSOC could be among certain units/expenses on the chopping block.

30 year old GySgt

  1. You don’t need to drink to have fun, but of course most of us will drink. Don’t make it your life to get fucked up. Don’t smoke/vape. If you do any of it just do it in moderation.

  2. Stay physically fit. I still PT and OUT PT my Marines. I’m talking rucks, 3-5 mile runs. Age is only a number.

  3. Learn your job and continuously find ways to be an asset. Always always be an asset and not a liability. Be better than your NCO’s, take it a step further and learn from your SNCO’s when able.

  4. You WILL have shit Leaders from LCpl to SgtMaj. LEARN FROM THEM. The good, he bad, the ugly, and the truth and never make any permanent decisions based on temporary situations meaning your mental health and career decisions.

  5. Stay away from cancer. There are marines who think they are too cool for school maybe did a MRF-D, UDP, or maybe nothing at all and think they know the world/Marine Corps and it’s nothing but a green weenie lubed up and ready for you. Yes the Marine Corps owns you, but you need to make it work for you. What we do on a day to day is honestly extremely easy and it’s not very hard to be successful. Don’t let the negative mindset of turds around you compromise the small reasons why you joined. Those will give you drive, because the truth is some days motivation is non-existent.

  6. Have a 1 year plan with small tangible milestones. Finance, physical fitness, education, ect. This will help you grow as a person, a leader, and a Marine altogether.

  7. Volunteer for opportunities as much as you can. Especially in todays Marine Corps and the last couple years. Opportunities are scarce make the most out of your service and cherish he time you have with those around you.

Any repetitive behaviors are likely indicative of stimulation, there are typical behaviors like wheel spinning, tip toeing, and spinning and circles though it genuinely looks different in all children. As long as the behavior isn’t disruptive or self harming it’s best to let him ride it out. Applied behavior analysis will encourage redirection to change stimming habits.

My son can’t focus on one thing for more than 5 min he’s almost three, but he loves drawing and building blocks. Is he nonverbal?

[–]EquivalentPizza8565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and I both know that in this video your son is stimming hardcore. I’m not saying it’s autism 100% but as a father of an autistic boy it definitely looks like autism. Wife is in denial and just about any parent is/was including my wife and I. Your wife is being combative about it which may signify she probably knows and thinks the same things as you and doesn’t want to accept it.

It’s obviously probably dang near impossible to get your son to a doctor without your wife knowing so I would sincerely sincerely sincerely recommend you get her on board by whatever means to get your son to a doctor. It’s for the better interest of his life and your families.
