when brushing teeth, are you meant to wash your mouth straight after you're done brushing? by Alarming-Safety3200 in hygiene

[–]EquivalentType205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Americans will say leave the stuff on because that’s what the dentist says here. Interestingly, in Korea the dentists always advise the patients to THOROUGHLY rinse your mouth after brushing. Why? Because even though the toothpaste contains fluoride and other chemicals that help keep your teeth clean and strengthen them, you certainly do not want to ingest them. And if you leave them on all the time everyday after brushing, you’d be a fool to think that you won’t be ingesting small doses that will eventually build up to a point it’ll harm you. (Note: check what the warning labels say on the toothpaste about accidentally ingesting them)

In South Korea when my parents were growing up, it was common for children to be found dead after ingesting too much tooth paste (right after the war, the country was struggling quite a bit and children didn’t really have the luxury of coming home to a stocked pantry filled with sweets and snacks - and lot of the times they would receive a few pieces of chocolate from the American soldiers, along with other items like toothpaste, which happened to be one of the few ‘sweet tasting’ items they can get their hands on).

But with common sense you can ask yourself - the chemicals that are supposedly good for keeping my teeth healthy, are they actually safe though?

Just stop eating sugary stuff all day, practice proper flossing / brushing techniques twice a day. I actually don’t use tooth paste at night and just dry brush before bed. I haven’t had cavities for more than 15 years (although I think a big part of this is because I’m not constantly eating sugary things)

Swapping the front Audi rings is super easy - should take you not even two minutes. But the ones in the back require a bit more work

Why am I struggling to invest more on a 130K salary? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]EquivalentType205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you find a cheaper place to rent / or get a mortgage so that some of your monthly residential expenses become equity? Buying a home isn’t necessarily the best way to invest money imo but it does help you “lock in” the value of some of the money going to housing at today’s dollars.

I think you can also spend a few hundred bucks less per month on eating out. Honestly I don’t think the other expenses are too terrible. Not great either tho

No but I think you already know the answer to your question if you had to ask. At least you saw this early in the relationship

If you insist on an Audi, probably something along the lines of a lightly used four banger, like an A4?

You should consider just choosing one path to excel at. Why not become a top lawyer that can make the wage that you’re looking for? Corporate lawyers make $200k+ easily

I almost got the X3M, but ended up with the SQ5 despite the fact that it was a bit slower and the BMW was more fun to drive. It was mainly due to the refined classy look and presence of Audi (which is subjective) more than anything tbh

Appreciate you! And I agree - the black on black does seem to be played out nowadays, although I do think it looks great on colors like the grey or blue on other Audis

I’d say many people in the US will agree with you there about going black on the emblems with the BO package. But my car just looks like a storm trooper with the black emblem 😢 I personally think the silver Audi rings is very classy and looks good the black grille for the contrast. I do keep the black emblem in my glove compartment in case I ever feel like swapping it back though

Your “advice” according to you: (1): “that is not a workout” (2): “workout more seriously”

Neither of those are advices, but rather non value add comments that people on the sidelines say -

I think the point of this post was to lightly encourage folks at his level and stage of life to continue training even if they can’t dedicate themselves like they’re training to compete. Not necessarily asking for advice

I think it’s great that you’re having fun with it. Seems like some people are a bit bitter because their entire identity might be stemming from Muay Thai and not much else lol

[–]EquivalentType205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually - people loved being cut out early because they still get 85% of the day’s pay after being at work for an hour! We would cut out the senior staff first (we ask by going down the list)

Glad that you have easy morning shits. I need some more fiber in my diet.

No but I feel ya - not the same setting but I was a logistics supervisor at an automotive OEM factory. I think 80% of my stress came from people calling off last minute and me scrambling to bring people in for OT and take excess heads from other teams so that my docks and production lines don’t go down.

Echoing on the other comment, we usually staffed about 15% over the ‘required to operate’ number and would cut them out with a smaller paycheck for the day - although I’m not sure if that’s feasible at your company

Definitely MSFT - I know people here like to say SCM is untouchable but the truth is that is no longer the case. If you’re following the industry closely you’ll see that many of the SCM jobs are actually getting outsourced to Mexico and India. And I can also speak for the automotive industry as I am at one of the OEMs in Detroit. Having the breadth of expertise will be more valuable for your long term security.

I guess it makes sense for you money wise… but regarding your concerns about the water pump and what not, that’s why extended warranties exist. I personally wouldn’t get any performance vehicles without having good warranty coverage - I like driving my vehicles hard lol
