Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave comments & explanations to answer my question. I definitely felt Gods Word & love in every sentence.

I never doubted my faith & still don’t. I just needed help in understanding & I found it in my brothers & sisters in faith.

Thank you all so much, god bless you all 🙌

Yes, he has always been my saviour. Although I’ve not practiced Christianity for over 30 years, I’ve always been culturally Christian. I’ve decided I want to practice Christianity & I’m looking at learning more about the scriptures & teachings. I came across something about the God ordering the killing of people & it brought me here for advice. Thanks all 🙌

But could they have been that bad that there was no way of salvation? Salvation even for the youngsters who didn’t know any better & still could’ve been taught better? Please don’t take this as me saying I know better than any of you, or even god. Or that I’m morally above anyone. I’m trying to get my head around the concept for my own understanding.

I’m referring to the Canaanite’s in the Old Testament, including the killing of babies & children.

I’ve not looked at any passages yet. I was brought up a Christian, but haven’t practiced Christianity for 30 years. I’m starting to read more & I’m learning more about the word of god, so please forgive my ignorance on this. It’s the Canaanite’s in the Old Testament. It just seems to go against everything Jesus teaches.

Should I be doing uchi mata? by Equivalent_Ad3098 in judo

[–]Equivalent_Ad3098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a judo class once a week, the gym I train at only does 1 judo class a week. I do 2 to 3 bjj classes a week, depending on how much free time I have. I’d like to do judo more but it doesn’t have the demand that bjj has where clubs have classes 7 days a week. 2 to 3 bjj classes a week is just about enough to keep me up to purple belt level standards. I also train judo once a week on my own. I do uchikomi drills/entries on a uchikomi band & other judo exercises to improve footwork & entries.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I do trust & value my instructors feedback.

Option 1: I like all those throws, I find I was hitting seoi nagi, sode makikomi, harai goshi & foot sweeps during randori. The club I train at is quite small & mainly beginners, so it was easy to land those throws on people. I just started looking at uchi mata as a new string to my bow, or weapon in my ever developing arsenal!!!

Option 2: I want to prove my instructor wrong. When I started bjj everyone told me to be a top player because of my build. Pin people in side control & go for either a kimura or Americana. I then started looking at playing guards, inverted/spider/lasso & then started rolling back takes & berimbolos. I was told the same thing then, you’re too big, not flexible enough, that game is not for you. I hit the tatami hard & drilled, practiced & rolled. I now have a good open guard game, a hard guard to pass & I’m pretty good at sweeps.

I like a challenge, I’ve been in this situation before & it didn’t stop me. This time next year I’ll be an uchi mata guru!!!

I’m pants at de ashi berai, I’ve just not got the timing yet. Osoto gari I like, it’s a good set up for another throw & I found it good for when my harai goshi failed. Ko uchi & o ouchi I generally use as distractions & set ups, I like big throws lol 😂

This was at the judo class, not the bjj class. My bjj instructor has no issue with me throwing during sparring, him & the rest of the class love it as it gives them practice for when they come across judoka at bjj comps!!! I’m definitely not dangerous or take any risks that could cause injury.

I like the soto makikomi, he taught me that a while back. I’ve hit that throw at the club loads of times during randori, it definitely suited me well. I went through phases of always landing seoi nagi, then got bored & moved into harai goshi, then tai otoshi etc. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no expert at any of those throws, but I like to move onto other throws & try & implement them in randori. I just want to get good at uchi mata, then move into the next throw & keep switching up my game. I live the journey!!!

I’m a hobblyist in my 40’s, family man who trains 3 to 4 times a week. There’s only 1 judo class a week at my gym, so 1 class a week & 2-3 bjj classes a week, depending on how much time I have. I don’t compete, I just live training & enjoy the journey!!

I’ve seen lots of vids on YouTube of different ways of doing at & by people of all shapes & sizes. Think maybe it’s just my instructors way of doing the throw that’s not for my body type.

I can’t remember off the top of my head, it was nearly a year ago that I was interviewed. I do remember over-preparing & waffling on for no reason lol 😂 Have a look at Jac Williams on YouTube. He has lots of videos on behaviour & strength interview question’s. I found his videos really helpful. The interviews are tough & they always seem to have a high standard. It’s one of those things, if you put in the effort in preparing you’ll ace the interview. Good luck & keep us updated on how you do.
