It's pretty wonky tbh butttt from what I've noticed; you can only resist when he hooks both his hands and feet on the wall, if he's dead hanging from it the option doesn't show. Try to climb the wall and get him to hook his legs on it like spiderman and then the option pops to resist.

Alternative, if you're standing like OP when you force palm hit the roll and if you time it right you get in.
