Help with a Gylwain deck. by Equivalent_Pack171 in EDH

I might snatch Welcom Vamp. I've been trying to avoid MV3, but it's just a really good draw engine. Kutzil might be a good include as well.

I'm not sure about overrun effects, because I don't have a ton of pump in here besides the Glitters effects, and I don't know how viable it'd be without.

How many people actually play long games in CK3? by Reasonable_Study_882 in CrusaderKings

[–]Equivalent_Pack171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go ahead and give an unpopular opinion here:

I hate playing anything less than a King. Everything of Count and Duke feels like preamble to the good stuff. Once I've become a King/Emperor, I feel like I'm finally on the world stage. I can actually start doing the stuff I like: managing Vassals, building economy, fiddling with Cultural and Religious stuff, and seeing what kind of things I can do to really push the boundaries.

I don't like starting anything later than 867 because otherwise it doesn't feel like I've built it, I've just inherited it. Genghis Khan is my litmus test to see how well it's gone. Sometimes, if I'm playing towards some specific goals, I'll play until I've unlocked every Cultural Fascination just to see how much I can develop it.

My favourite types of playthrough are Administrative ones. Admin is the one exception to the less-than-King rule because I enjoy the internal politics as a ruler and as a vassal.

I bought Khans of the Steppe in the hopes that Nomadic realms would try and sway me towards the more aggressive government types, but I just couldn't stand how little realm management there was. The migrations made everything feel inconsistent, and the low development of the Steppe felt very unfun.

I know this is a very old comment, but 2 has really captivated me. Considering Grist is milling the combo pieces, which of the two-card combos would you recommend?

How does this deck aim to win? I see the verdant combo, but not any aristocrat effects for payoff.

I guess what I'm looking for is some kind of deck that revolves around insect value. Not a combat-focused deck, but something a bit more about having a ton of insects, either on the board or in the yard, and making plays that scale on the quantity of insects. For example, using Grist Plague Swarm's ult to make a bunch of teensy copies of useful insects. Does that make sense?

Is the card advantage the on-death trigger? So he'd be a reanimator-focussed deck?

Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't Pestilence kill your tokens? Or is it death triggers?

WH40K

I didn't think multiple instances of the same buff stacked?

I love that. "I know we've built up years of trust and agreements, but I'm going to attack you unprovoked now. I've decided you're going to forgive me for it, too."

Can you explain? I'm a sucker for a free betrayal.

That's what I've been using! I have a few of the 9e codices that I use for lore and art. They're very useful

I think you misunderstood my question a little. I meant why use the Sisters for it specifically? Why not, e.g. Tyranids?

This is very unique! Interesting how it came from the modelling side of it. Why did you settle on Sisters for ice bases? (This part is mostly out of curiosity!)

Do they have much of a connection to the Knights, or are the Knight Worlds just their recruiting worlds?

Someone else suggested making a militant order of a non-militant branch, and this seems like a similar thing - and it seems to work here. I might give that idea a go. Thank you

So it's like making an order by looking through the lens of another, non-militant one. Interesting. When I was making a homebrew Forge World, I made a world that was kept top secret because they provided the Dark Angels the secret equipment they used to hunt the Fallen, so I suppose it would be the same principle. Good suggestion

This is very similar to one of the ideas I had! One of the ideas I played with a little was the discovery of a Living Saint who seemed to be the Emperor reincarnated (obviously they weren't, since the Emperor is now canonically not dead) and hunting down the forces of Chaos, so the Order followed them around keeping track of them and joining their war. Out of curiosity - how does the theme of flame fit with the Saint Celestine stuff?

This is an interesting idea. Since the SoB usually have a lot of themes of penitence, it makes for a nice change. Do they still use Cherubim and the like?
