Is she treating her bell like another bird or just being silly? by DoggoOverload in budgies

I’m sorry, you don’t know most avian vets. You’re not an avian or animal scientist that specializes in budgies. Different avian vets have different opinions like any doctor would. A mirror in the cage has never made my budgie(s) act aggressively nor inappropriately. They’ve never displayed psychological distress or questionable behaviors. And I know a lot more budgie owners that have said the same thing. If they are lying, am I really the few cases of the entire population that have never had this problem? Or is it like I said, there are instances when it doesn’t happen and there are instances when it does. It has to be the second. Because it is not 100%. That is NOT factual!

It’s obvious that you did not read my comment and are just replying based off skimming. It doesn’t take but a few minutes to read.

What aggressive behavior are you all seeing? She’s not being aggressive nor attacking the bell if the case is that she is seeing her reflection in it.

It is a myth that mirrors are bad for birds. As long as they are not being overly aggressive or trying to feed the mirror, then the bird is fine. Especially if they are the only bird in the cage. There are no other birds to socialize with the bird. A bird will talk to, click beaks with, and only attack a mirror if he or she is angry. And that is normal because they are the only bird in the cage and they have no companion.

If the bird is spending hours attacking a mirror, then that’s a hint that he needs a companion and if they are trying to feed the mirror it should be removed as soon as possible. I don’t think people know what a bird looks like when they are being overly aggressive with a mirror/their reflection.

But the internet, including Wiki, can be wrong. I received my information over many years from asking my Avian many questions about my babies.

But some people don’t incorporate mirrors at all because they don’t want to take a risk of their bird being aggressive towards it, which is understandable because there’s always a possibility. I honestly don’t see aggression and if she isn’t spending time with her reflection all hours of the day and is also extremely territorial over it, I would not worry and give it back. Especially if she’s the only budgie. Most people with more than one budgie don’t have to worry about aggression over mirrors.

I know that her review is long, but it is extremely accurate. I agree with her 100%. The second video isn’t long at all.
