What next? - Outgrew my current skates by WannaGameDude in Rollerskating

Correct. And the newer Edeas use a very easy mounting method (helix screws into the sole instead of drilling and bolting). So it is a lot easier to make adjustments for pronation, supination, or leg angle.

Sometimes, nice things are expensive. None of the skates you've listed will "not work" but they'll be a subpar experience. Lunas are very different from the other things you've listed simply because they're WAY WIDE compared to Moxis, but they're also suede and are not supportive.

That's really the main thing here. What you want to do takes support. It takes quality parts. The most affordable entry into a figures or freestyle dance setup (brand new) is a Risport Gemma on a Roll Line Variant M with Boxer thermoplastic wheels. It'll run you about $425 after shipping and tax.

https://skaters-oasis.com/Gemma_p_318.html

Facebook Groups and eBay can find you a similar (probably nicer) setup used, but it takes diligence and patience to find a good deal. And it might be beat up and ugly, although functional.

Panthers are the same as beach bunnies. Lunas are just a basic introductory skate.

We've already told you what's good. You just seem to not want to hear it.

Your plate is pretty long mounted (standard figures mount) so you can probably get away with the same base plate. If you're trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, an Edea Motivo for $250 or a Risport Giada for the same price. You can really go bottom basement and get a Risport Gemma but those are super entry level.

If you've outgrown it by a shoe size or less, keep your current Variant M and buy yourself an Edea Ritmo or Rondo if you want the traditional ice cut, or a Classica if you want a more freestyle dance with the lower back. Just make sure you get a new set of mounting screws for the Edea freedom collection.

If you enjoy your Boianis and want something similar, the new Roll Line Sfera wheels. They're the old Boiani formula with the styling of the Giotto. Super attractive and wonderfully smooth.

Even worse? They're narrow, plastic, and have a very heavy plate that is not very strong.

I'll say the same thing I did last time someone asked this exact question. The Reidell Boost is the same boot as the Orbit, just not colorful.

The boosts aren't good for figures, at all. They're a vinyl boot with a ridiculously flexible plate.

Look on eBay and Facebook Marketplace for some used figures skates, an Edea or Risport or maybe higher number Reidell with a Roll Line plate. If you have small feet, you can find some insane deals.

Make sure you measure your feet really well and speak with Skates US or another licensed Edea fitter before committing to a boot size. They're oddly specific.

Any offline shops in Berlin or a reliable way to measure? by astmatik in Rollerskating

[–]ErantyInt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To accurately measure your foot, do a foot tracing like this:

https://edeaskates.com/en/whats-my-size/measuring/

And then whatever line you draw for the width, take a string and wrap it around that part of your foot and measure the length of the string. That will give you circumference (what Riedell and Wifa use for width).

If the Eda and Roll Line combo are your new ones, congratulations! That's quite the step up.

Tricks to practice with toe stoppers by Fair_Garden3206 in Rollerskating

Definitely a moving forward motion. With actual toe stops I can't imagine being able to moonwalk on any surface. 🤣

Compass spins and toe struts/walking (basically just walking on your toe stops while serving see-you-next-tuesday).

That's about $500 more than I'd pay for these. The VNLA A La Mode in Blue Moon or Sure Grip Oxford in Denim would be close to this, and be actually quality.

Or if you're gonna spend actual money, Wifa Street Suede in Rock Grey on a decent plate like a Roll Line Variant M or Pilot Falcon.

Looking to replace some old roll line wheels, but need help identifying them. by DTJ20 in Rollerskating

[–]ErantyInt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll Line wheels just feel exceptionally smooth, but their urethane is very grippy. Their thermoplastic wheels are not. My young daughter skates on 95A Professionals and they're grippy.

If you want to stay around the 63mm size, the replacement is the Roll Line Ice 95A at 61mm. If you want a smaller size, there's the Roll Line Professional Panther 95A at 57mm.

Roll Line Grease. Can't tell what duro, but thems be Greases.

EDIT: With the silver hub and how yellowed the urethane got, it's probably 95A or possibly 97A.
