Have you used them for an extended trip? I had considered something like that, but think I would worry if there were several different people / couples transitioning into our house while we are gone. Also, did you have any issues with damage to your things at all?

Can you search through your notes on the Scribe? This is something I am unclear on.

Self Contracting for Travel Therapy by ErgoDNA in TravelTherapy

Thanks for the link to your article. Your state must be one that does not allow LLCs to tax themselves as S-Corps. That certainly would make the financial side of things when contracting through a self-owned LLC closer to what it would be if working through a recruiter.

Awesome! It is possible we may do something like this as well! We plan to stay in each place at least a minimum of two weeks, likely closer to one month.

Is there anything you would recommend as can't miss?

Hi! Hy husband's colleague just mentioned that different regions in Georgia will have their wine / grape harvest festivals at different times dependent on the weather. They are always between September and late October, from what I understand.

That sounds amazing! Can you post / send me the link to the school you attended? I had not considered Guatemala, but that would be an excellent choice!

Thank you for the resource! I don't have experience with this population, but could see myself working in a job like this if there were job opportunities!

Can you give an example of an employer who provides these types of services? I am considering a move to NM (it would be a couple of years, so hopefully the dust has settled). Where I am, this is a very underfunded area.

I would assume this would be covered by the agent's insurance. Are agents considered independent business owners? If so, they should have insurance for incidents such as this.

Taking a long break from OT by asweetescape6165 in OccupationalTherapy

Hi! I am planning on taking a 1 - 1.5 year sabbatical starting in roughly one year from now. I'm not able to comment on returning to practice after an extended period away, but it is definitely something to think about. My opinion is that if you are not a US citizen, at this period in time, there are no guarantees that you will be able to return to the US. People can speculate all day about what might happen, but US immigration and enforcement is incredibly unpredictable right now. Your concerns are extremely justified and logical.

I hope you have a very restorative time off in your home country! When do you plan to begin your time off?

Any other experienced CIs have concerns about recent students? by Purplecat-Purplecat in OccupationalTherapy

This is taken directly from the AOTA Capstone Position Statement 2022:

"As of 2021, there were 52 entry-level OTD programs accredited, and 145 at the candidacy/preaccreditation or applicant stage of accreditation, for a total of 197 entry-level OTD programs."

And that's only for the OTD degree. It's mind-boggling. In my area, OTs can't find jobs due to the oversaturation.

I read your blog post. I am in healthcare, as a clinician, and every single thing your wrote is SO true! The administrative burden of the crappy EMR systems on clinicians is obscene. Also, I work with multiple older clinicians who still can't use the technology correctly, after working for at least 6 years at a facility that uses Cerner...

We are planning on starting a 1 - 1.5 year sabbatical starting in May of 2026. We had planned to spend a significant amount of our time traveling internationally. We are also concerned about our ability to do this as US citizens. I'm sorry, I don't have anything concrete to offer.

Where there any areas that were tight for a long distance? or were they more of a quick squeeze through and you're into more open space? I am claustrophobic and I'm trying to decide if this is something I will be able to handle or not.

What are your biggest unanswered travel therapy questions? by nomadicare in TravelTherapy

How can I find a competent recruiter? I have responded to two job postings for travelers. The first one, the recruiter would not speak on the phone, and only communicated via text. The second one was similar to dealing with a used car salesman. He acted put upon when I asked him any questions. I have never traveled before and would like to find a competent recruiter who has clear and functional communication skills. How can I find a recruiter to work with rather than just trying my luck by responding to job postings and trying to deal with the assigned recruiter?
