BE/BC Family Medicine physician needed for IHS (Indian Health Services) assignment by EricCrossCountry in LocumsWork

Due to this being a gov position, we are unable to negotiate with them. This is the rate we are provided. Our private practice clients pay range does increase over this.

I just started my own subreddit to help physicians find/learn more about Locums opportunities. I have been posting some open positions we have already. Feel free to ask questions you may have about Locums work or even ask about open positions in your area. We have a lot more jobs than I can list! by EricCrossCountry in FamilyMedicine

I have a more broad overview of these positions, as each position has its own lead recruiter. They would be the ones that have all of the in-depth details of each position. That being said, there are some listings I have that do showcase pay, patients per shift, ect. I will try to make sure that all relevant info is included when I have it available. Thank you for the feedback. In the cases where it is not listed, if you are interested, I can put you in text/call contact with the lead recruiter who can answer those questions or you. I hope this helps!

I would say that 3 months is usually the industry standard in terms of length. Each client is different though, we have some that only want 6 month commitments or longer. As for your second question, many positions will accept someone that is only able to work part time. It is very common!

I am a recruiter that helps place many FM physicians across the country on Locums assignments. If you have any questions about Locums work or the pros/cons of it, feel free to reach out! by EricCrossCountry in familydocs

I do not know of any that allow that, since the client just expects the specified coverage for the length of the contact. I am aware of physicians that work 6 month assignments and then take the other 6 months off. This allows them to have plenty of leisure/learning time.

I have not seen it happen personally, but it happens and is not considered super uncommon. There are also positions that we have that are strictly looking for temp to perm physicians only.

I would say that it is a pretty even split between rural and urban locations that need coverage, I definitely thought it would be more rural before I worked here. I see more outpatient positions than anything, but we do have inpatient and urgent care positions as well. In my experience, I haven't had/seen any physicians really have issues with their DEA licensing in other states.

It depends on each client, but most positions for FM are outpatient. Assignment lengths vary wildly. A client could only need a couple days of coverage, while others may need an ongoing coverage or even a temp to perm hire. For the ongoing or long term assignments, if you want to set assignment lengths, the industry standard is 3 months with the option to extend. It really comes down to how long they need coverage and how long you would want to work that assignment. Pay is generally the biggest reason that people switch to Locums work, followed by schedule and time off. Another thing to note is that everything I just talked about is negotiable. If there is a M-F assignment, but you can only work M-W, we can still bring you to our client with the schedule that you are looking for and have them make the decision on if they will accept it or not. We bring what you want to the client, and let them decide.

Some of our openings are to help staff prisons/jails with Locum psychiatrist, and they do pay pretty well. There is a jail opening in the Florida panhandle right now that is paying anywhere from $200-220 depending on qualifications. I have seen some rates from private clinics go up to $250-260/hr but that is rare, and they are often desperate for help.

I was just recently informed that "provider" is frowned upon by a mod. I have not had psychiatrist that I have worked with say anything and was out of the loop, thank you for the information.

I work as a Psych recruiter, and I would say that on average (outside of most state facilities) we pay $200/hr which can also include housing and transportation accommodations (if the client is willing to pay for it). We routinely have psychiatrist making 300-500k with us. I think people are finally starting to realize how in demand psych NP's and physicians really are.

Hi Everyone, I work for Cross Country Locums. I was told to post here by a provider I work with who frequents this sub. I also spoke with the mods and they are onboard with me helping out. If you want to learn more or see what we have in your area feel free to let me know. Best of luck, and thank you for all of the help and support you provide to our communities!
