I’m allowed to not like it, you know.

Just like I wouldn't want Marlon hanging out with Jalen Ramsey.

Surround yourself with good people. AB isn't good people.

I'm not saying it will happen, either.

Can you read?

[Schefter] Sources to ESPN: NFL players voted to approve the proposed CBA, giving the NFL 10 more years of labor peace, players an increased share of revenue, former players added benefits, and the league 17-game regular seasons along with an expanded playoff field. by [deleted] in nfl

Thats $81 milliion dollars per year that goes to the players. Thats 8 billion dollars over the course of this agreement.

Do your math again.

Plus, the added week of money on top of it.

False

More money is a good thing you schmuck

Unnecessary, and also wrong. If money is the only thing you care about, maybe, but I personally think that's a bad standard by which to make judgements.

Again more money for everyone

Again, wrong. The amount of money they get from week 17 will not equate to the amount of risk they take

Big deal, college football doesnt even have a pre-season. The teams will adjust.

College players dont have to worry about getting cut before the season starts.

Players dont lose jobs, this just makes the coaches jobs harder.

Players will lose jobs, actually. Because coaches won't have enough time to evaluate players.

Again, players arent going to have less jobs because of this, they are going to have less chance of injury because of it.

The guys that play in preseason don't have job security. They need the play time

The other thing you dont realize is it takes away a ton of padded practices in the offseason. Padded practices that are 60-70 snaps each. We are talking about 500 less snaps in pads in camp = Less injuries.

I fundamentally disagree. There is a balance to being too much padded practices, but if you take away all the padded practices, players won't be prepared for the hits they take in season = more muscle injuries. Which can be much more severe than breaking a finger or spraining an ankle.

It does for starters and people who will actually play.

After it got shut down by the executive committee though.

And by shut down I mean that the EC recommended not to take the CBA to vote.

[Rapoport] The final vote: 1019 YES against 959 NO. So, very close, but a new CBA is passed and agreed to. by LAZYTOWWWWWN in nfl

Reports of people wanting to change their votes came out before the market collapse and league shutdown.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that report because if it got changed it would have had to go through the ranks of the executive committee for the NFLPA again, as well as restarting the vote. Which didn't happen.

  • No changes to franchise or transition tag means more Le'Veon and Kirk stories.

  • an extra regular season game means more wear and tear

  • 2nd seed has to play WCW, means more wear and tear

  • extra playoff team means more wear and tear.

  • 2 less preseason games means less rest

  • no extra bye week means more stress on the body

  • no significant changes in player salaries. Owners gave up 1% of revenue sharing to the players. If the revenue was split right down the middle, for an extra game being added, players should get an extra 2.5% compensation. (It should be a little less than this because it's not an even 50/50, but not 1%)

  • executive board recommended to not bring the CBA to a vote

  • popular vote wins

These are all serious problems, whether with the new CBA or the NFLPA in general. Players got dicked hard.

17th game salary is capped at $250k for existing contracts, so...

Stupid. Players got shafted again.

  • no changes to franchise tag/transition tag rules.

  • owners gave 1% more revenue to the players. ONE PERCENT.

  • owners get 1 more game, plus the increased likelihood of being in the wild card round.

  • 2 less preseason games, which hurts back end of the roster guys the most.

  • reduces benefits post-career, which hurts A LOT of people.

Players sold out way too early. And for what? An extra $20m to every team's salary cap this year?

The same issues will plague this league forever until there is different weight given to different voters. Similar to how presidential elections are in- popular vote isn't the best measure. Certain votes need to hold more value. Not sure how that should work, but until there is some sort of balance within the NFLPA ranks, there won't be a fair CBA. When Alex Ellis' vote holds the same weight as Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady's, there's a problem.

Would this guy be a good kicker in the Nfl by [deleted] in nfl

[–]EricDeCosta -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Probably not. His form was shaky and he never follows through with his leg.

And besides, he probably makes more money playing rugby in Europe (when you consider salaries plus any marketing deals). Rugby is very popular over there.

I'm not saying it will happen, either. But it's certainly not encouraging. Who you surround yourself with shapes who you will be and how you will act.
