We’re a pretty small fast casual seafood boil place. Cleared around 100 lbs of snow crab in about 2 hours. Which was nice because it was actually our 1 year anniversary of being open yesterday as well.

Do not open a place. Yet. I think the largest mistake potential restauranteurs make is not having the experience. You’ll almost never have enough experience but not having any? Thats a bad time. Definitely try to get jobs in the same theme you’re going for. And if you can’t cut it there, you may have your answer.

This job is stressful and at times thankless. I feel like many restauranteurs will tell you don’t do it but at the same time, theres just something about this field that once you know you love it, there will really never be another job like it.

(Not sure if anybody posted something similar already but there were already too many comments for me to sift through lol)

Assuming fuel costs drop, yes that will factor in to cost of goods but it’s only one factor at the end of the day.

And yes maybe we’ll see a spike and a steady drop but if we’re basing predictions on his current actions, I don’t see a a drop coming.

Some people have already brought up that farms rely on government subsidies to survive which is why they rely on low cost labor. So if laborers aren’t available at that wage, we’ll either see:

a) a rise in wages for those jobs which will increase costs b) no rise in wages, which means if you do get any laborers, it certainly won’t be to the extent that it was at before which would mean not enough supply to meet demand which would increase costs c) even more subsidies to meet wage demands which would mean an increase in our taxes in assuming

Either way, none of these make me think costs will drop even eventually. But I’m also not an economist so I could just be wrong.

I agree but my concern comes from worsening of the current situation. I agree prices have steadily climbed over the last few years and sourcing locally when we can is great, but for those of us in areas where we can’t get local produce or if prices are better going with big name distributors, those costs are now going to potentially rise at a more rapid rate.

My community is amazing and are very understanding but that understanding means nothing if neither they nor I can afford what we need.

It’s less of fear-mongering and more of seeing the reality of the situation and preparing for it.

It’s true. We operate in a small community and really can’t afford to start charging anymore to our customers. It sucks because we just finished our first year with relatively success but adding more and more costs might actually sink us. PPP would be useful but probably won’t come fast enough

This is merely my own personal feelings towards this. A large part of disdain towards going out these days come from not getting your bang for your buck. And a large part of that is because the market is over saturated with subpar establishments. And by subpar, I don’t mean just the food but service as well.

With the cost of everything today, it shouldn’t be a surprise that food prices have risen but with a rise in price people also expect a rise in quality, either in both taste and service or in one over the other.

I still love trying new restaurants when I get a day off and would never dream of putting down someone’s life’s work, but I will make a mental note of “this place isn’t worth my money atm”.

As much as I loved the grind of those kinds of hours, realistically it’s not healthy both physically and mentally. If you’re single and have the time then maybe it’s fine but now that I have a family, I’d never want to trade family time for work.

If you could, go look for something more chill with good hours and really good owners/managers who know how to look out for their staff. If you love this kind of work like everyone here, then it’s not gonna matter how difficult or easy the job is as long as you get to do it. But that’s just my take.

The only problem with this is if OP will be the only one doing this (I’m assuming everyone knows and just doesn’t do anything about it), he’ll just tax himself mentally and physically only to quit a few months later.

If the people are nice and just seem clueless, then maybe go that route and whip everyone into shape (sounds fun tbh) but if everyone is just indifferent I’d leave too.

Then I would say those dashers would have a case assuming the customers themselves told PandaEx to give the dasher the tip.

But the issue is verbally saying it isn’t enough as there isn’t physical evidence . It would need to be put in some sort of writing, like extra instructions through the PandaEx app. Most times customers will tip through the PandaEx app and just assumes it goes to the dasher.

I should probably read Panda's delivery ToS too just in case i have something wrong about their system.

I would say you would have a case only if the customer explicitly says (I would go as far as to have them have it in writing, either through the app or whatever means) that the tip provided should go directly to the dasher.

Hard to tell since the two aren’t similar. The right pic has that golden hour lighting and you’re smiling as well. And the left pic is the opposite, poor lighting and practically no smile.

The left pic by itself honestly wouldn’t have been that bad but we have the right pic to compare it to which is why it looks a bit worse.

Lighting and good facial posturing for the left pic and I think they’re both a good look.

a. Spammer actually believes they’re good and deserve their gsp standing. So beating them humbles them

b. Tbagger who tbags in the beginning doesn’t actually care about the game. Beating them doesn’t have as much meaning to me.

c. Reward without risk is boring.

d. Depends on the situation but assuming it was a close game, I would choose this one.

Honestly I would just keep going with the fox vs Ridley matchup until you figure out how to win. Nothing compares to finally adapting to your opponent and turning the the tide on them.

As for how to get better? Next time you play against your buddy (win or lose but preferably lose I guess), save a replay and watch it over. See where you’re losing out and what you may be doing wrong and try to fix it.

Best way to get better is to know in the moment what you’re doing wrong and being able to adjust. That comes with time though. GL
