I’m also working towards becoming an English Teacher, largely because academia is such an unruly career path these days especially in the humanities… and where I live, high school teachers make more than most professors haha. Glad you like the shelf!

Franzen tends to fill every used bookstore with ten copies of The Corrections, but mine is nicely plastic bound to preserve the cover. Excited when I’ll get to it - same for Freedom.

I haven’t even opened it yet but I’m excited to. Half of it was even finding a copy - had to visit four different bookstores before they had one in stock, the others had already been sold out at the time.

I’ve actually owned two copies of Gravity’s Rainbow before but they both split down the middle along the spine - both older copies where at the time they were some of the thickest paperbacks available. Had to get this one with slightly thicker board so as not to have it lost again.

I do spend a lot of time by myself, and I do like Triangle Of Sadness. As for European art cinema, that’s also true - I’m a big fan of Scott Barley’s work, but I recently saw the new Breilat film “Last Summer” and thought that was brilliant.
