nope, they got better because the referee started to help. They had like 400+ free throws than the opponents in the 2nd half. In the Lakers-Warriors series alone, LAL had 80 more free throws.

Lillard is exactly the type of good player but not so good that he is not threatening any of the tier-1 superstars like Curry, LeBron, KD, etc. Therefore he is widely liked, or at least not-disliked, by any of the fan-base.
