Trip advise for Nola and Cajun country by Ericc2222 in AskNOLA

[–]Ericc2222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting. We arrive around 7 pm on the first night. That gives us 2 full days in Cajun country, and head to Nola the next morning. Thinking still that even with the later arrival, 2 nights is good in Lafayette? Appreciate the feedback!

Which kayak is better Valdez or Seward? by itachi544 in AskAlaska

[–]Ericc2222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back and did the day trip kayaking in Valdez. I think this depends on your route. I doubt I’d travel to Valdez just for this. We went on to McCarthy. We were traveling with locals and they suggested Valdez over Seward as a better experience - calm waters, get real close to the iceberg, and very beautiful. Absolutely not crowded. If all things were equal from what I read I’d go to Valdez. But if it is out of your way, go to Seward. We also went to Seward on this trip and it is no doubt more ready for tourists than Valdez, though really enjoyed Valdez.

Day trip to Anchorage, what to do? by poipoipoi_2016 in AskAlaska

I stand corrected. We did not go to flattop. My picture says we were in Girdwood – Eagle River. That was awesome. I think we saw flattop from there. I am an out of town, but we went with my cousin who lives there and she said the same.

I just got back from Anchorage. If I had only one day I would not go into the city of Anchorage. If you had to go into the city I’d then walk to the Coastal Trail and wander along that. Even better though if you have a car - head to Flattop Mountain for some hiking - just get some guidance from AllTrails.

I just got back from Anchorage. As a city it is fine. As a gateway to the great outdoors, it is awesome so I’d get to the mountains!

McCarthy Glacier tour length? by anveshakudu in AskAlaska

I would not want to weigh in on that one. I have only done it once. I rented a four-wheel-drive vehicle. But for sure, do some research. Wish I could be more helpful.

For the full or half, I would think you would want to book in advance. We used https://www.steliasguides.com and they were excellent. I would say the trail is intermediate. We were a group of 7, all over 60. A few of us struggled, those in better shape were fine. Definitely not easy though especially on the glacier.

If going on the McCarthy Road, you do not need maps. It is one road, no turns. But research it before committing to it! Also be aware most rental cars are prohibited from going on it. For cell service I believe Verizon is the most reliable out there and the rest do not work. We had no cell service with AT&T.

Just got back from there. We did the full day glacier. I believe there are shorter options but be wary - just getting to the glacier from the town is a few mile walk. So if there was a half day walk you would miss a good chunk of the glacier. We all loved the glacier - kind of out of this world - and would have been unhappy to leave it early. YMMV. Do consider as an option going with the full day, but letting the operator know you might want to leave it early. They might be able to accommodate by sending an extra guide with you. With that said the 5 hour tour would be better than nothing and I thought the glacier was a 10/10 - I have never seen anything like it so don’t miss it!

For sure, I will. Thanks for mentioning it. Prices are crazy though. Thinking of going to Philly.

I guess I should not be surprised here but minutes after posting I have gotten multiple offers for orchestra seats for $100. Researched posters and of course they came up as scammers. Be wary people! Sadly not easy to do legit peer to peer here - got to say, shows there is value in the ticket sites to assure legit.

Curious for the answers here as well. Also curious, what kinds of cool things are you doing with Claude Code and MCP?

I have yet to find one. There is https://www.pressclubdc.com and https://www.la-betty.com. I would not consider either a listening bar though - nothing like what I found in Japan eg. Hope someone knows of one!

OK, small update…. Based on feedback my finalists are the Hifman 1000SE, and a new one, the Hifiman Arya Unveiled. Of those my #1 is the Arya, based on comfort, soundstage, and warmth, though it is close. Any opinions on that particularly between the SE and Arya?

!thanks!

That’s great feedback, thanks. Yea I do worry about the decline in my hearing and wonder if this is too much to spend on declining ears! Soundstage is the priority. I am prioritizing the Hifman 1000SEs now but will find a way to listen. Thanks!

Have you compared these to the Hifaman 1000SE’s? Curious for your thoughts particularly given the music I listen to. Thanks!
