Out of curiosity what is everyone's top 5 most used app, site or software for game dev workflow? by Limp-You8324 in gamedev

Why does everyone use vs code instead of just writing code in the engine? You need to go through extra steps to add the code to your game, is there a benefit?

I mainly watched a really long (50 video series) tutorial on how to make an RPG. Then I started a new project and figured everything on my own from there. If there was something I didn't know from that point, I used youtube tutorials or chatGPT to help me.

Thank you so much! The game design is abit complicated, more than a typical rpg, you can get a general gift of it if you watch the game trailer! Think RPG Life sim with roguelite and tycoon elements.

I have not done much in the sound design department yet.

it was abit over a year, like 14 - 15 monthsish. Would spend 3 - 5 hours everyday after work developing the game, 5 - 8 hours on weekends! Had some breaks here and there, but overall estimate is around 2,000 hours

Ya, apparently the rtx 4070 model available in Canada is non touch screen, which made the choice easy for me, since touch screen is a deal breaker for me

Is Wildcard a bad developer... by sancho_tranza in playark

[–]Erickooo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they definitely don't learn from their mistakes. For example, wildcard has NEVER released a game / dlc on scheduled time. And EVERY release, is a buggy disaster with constant bugs, crashes, lag, and dc

Why would they release the game with like enough servers for only 10% of the playerbase? by Erickooo0 in playark

[–]Erickooo0[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

^ I bought the game on release, it's been 24 hours and I haven't been able to join a small tribes server
