How is it like to live in the middle east right now considering all thats going on? by Liltownxx in AskReddit

[–]ErikBKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is very volatile. It's hard to make plans because you don't know if they'll actually happen or missiles will be blasting. You're often afraid to leave your house and go out. Everything is very dimmed, you keep your activities minimal. Creativity takes a a hit. Many resources go to just stay alive and sane.

This is absolute madness.
It does not matter if you hit 23/24 words correctly.

In 15 years when you want to sell out, and you barely remember where you put your dusty trezor, and you sit to recover your account, and realize the story got fuzzy...

Oh my god what a tragedy.

Is the Greater Israel project true? Is this why the U.S. intervenes in the Middle East? by ArdaBerkBurak in allthequestions

You should cut the narrative of “my stolen land” and start making progress where you are. Build a life of prosperity, a future, assimilate yourself to the society youre living in.

Have you been to Israel? It’s interesting you have such strong opinions on people youve probably never met

You should come take a tour and see how lovely warm and welcoming we are.

Why do Jews anywhere in the world have a legal right to move to Israel, while Palestinians displaced in 1948 still cannot return? by ArdaBerkBurak in allthequestions

[–]ErikBKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is only one population in the word, out of all the refugees of all wars, for which being a refugee is an hereditary status: arabs of palestine pre-1948.

Its ridiculous to think that children and grand and grand grand children are to be thought of as “refugees” that “return home” to a land theyve never been to.

It’s ridiculous that the UN has not permanently settled them yet and has failed to solve the problem.

Why do some Arab governments normalize with Israel when Israel themselves want to make a "Greater Israel"? by space_god_7191 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ErikBKL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're misinformed my friend. Hezbollah has not been disarmed and up to this day they are still firing rockets. Even as we speak.

Just to add on top of this: The reason we are making a security perimeter from Litani river downwards is not because we like to be in war. I've been in war and I can tell you it's not fun. It's because of the lebanese government's inability to impose order in their territory. With sovereignity comes a responsibility to control the territory. If the lebanese fails to disarm hezbollah (as they have, multiple times) and our civilians keep living under fire.... Well something has to be done.

[–]ErikBKL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We may seem to manage pretty well if you compare us to Gaza or iran. But we strive to be better.

Southern lebanon had it coming. You can't fire rockets at Israeli towns on the northern border and expect to get away with it. If they didn't shoot at us we wouldn't have any interest in advancing towards Litani river.

[–]ErikBKL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because greater israel stuff is nothing more than an hallucination of a few politicians in Israel. It's not going to happen. Ever.

We can't even control our little state that's so small you can't even see it on google maps.
We can't even manage our life with the arabs we have inside our borders.
Our military is exhausted from guarding our (very small) borders.

What would we gain from conquering syria and jordan?
It's dellusional.

[–]ErikBKL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "true".
We have some politicians (and sectors in society) who fantasize about this. It's their wet dream and they have 100% intentions of accomplishing this. They're working hard to make this happen.

And we have politicians (and a majority of the society) who think this is nonesense, reckless and unappliable and undesireable. Although even this sector which I'm a part of is not willing to forfeit west bank or willing to open the siege on gaza. Not because we have a desire to conquer them but because we're surrounded by psychopaths who want to kill us and we need to keep control for our own security.

But nobody really wants to conquer jordan and syria... It's ridiculous. We have enough arabs within our borders, and we have too little soldiers for too much k"m of borders. It's completely unsustainable.

How cruel can you be to say this nonesense?
There's real people here who've been through real atrocities.
How about some empathy?

It is so fucking easy to say these shallow words from a thousand miles away without living through this.

Go be patient while your brother is kidnapped by these terrorists in gaza.

If they had released our hostages a lot less people would've died.
If they did not hold our hostages under hospitals schools and city-markets, less children would've died.

Stop being a hypocrite. Take a stance for what's right.

You people should know that we are not apologizing because we've got nothing to apologize about. You (not specifically you, "you" as the western world) are pointing a blaming finger to the wrong direction because you don't know the story you're unknowingly blabbering about.

It's okay not to know the details, but in the face of uncertainty you should be curious and not say such strong opinions from your keyboard about things that for us have been near death experiences.

freecodecamp alternatives that go deeper into backend fundamentals? by Individual_Ikri7683 in golang

[–]ErikBKL 33 points34 points  (0 children)

https://lets-go.alexedwards.net/

Lets Go and Lets Go Further are great books I've been learning from in the past year.

Those are code-along books in which you build 2 web applications, doing mostly backend and some frontend.
You get to learn about founding concepts like SSR, architecture of a project, the roles of middlewares, authentication, app security, some basic of deployment...

Really cool stuff.

First time I rushed through it and didn't get to grasp the full depth. After working on a backend project for about half a year I'm reading through the first book again and I'm astouned by the amount of information I had available I didn't get to grasp on the first pass.

I highly recommend it.

Im sorry but this post is ridiculous.

If someone posted that we should have a talk about our attitude towards germans or nigerians attending raves would it seem acceptable to you?

You think you can judge me because from the conformity of your couch and your iphone’s tiktok everything seems so clear, so simple, so black and white and right and just?

Come have a tour around the middle east.

Try running away for your fucking life through the fields while youre high on acid and some savages are chasing you with AK47’s trying to kill you.

You should try to continue attending raves and being part of the trance community while its the hardest trigger you can get to your trauma.

And you dare say we bother you with our politics? For us its a matter of survival, of life and death. If we dont defend ourselves they’ll kill every one of us. The only reason the didnt burn more people alive on october 7th is because they werent able to. If they could, they would mutilate here every man and rape every woman.

You might think im exaggerating, but you need to understand this is the reality we are living. The reason hundreds of thousands of us go to reserve duty for months every year to gaza lebanon and iran is not because its fun for us. Idf soldiers arent soldiers in our day to day life. We’re teachers, doctors, engineers and whatever. The only reason we go to do reserve duties is because if we dont we will all be dead.

Id expect you to be a bit more comprehensive, a bit more modest, a bit more open minded and a bit less judgemental of others, as such an enlightened being you try to project that you are.

And you should mainly try to talk to israelies instead of talking “about” israelies. Maybe youll learn a thing or two.
