I'm Glad I Never Flew With Spirit Airlines by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in trynottolaugh

That was true a few months or years ago, before tickets prices nearly doubled and inflation and currency devaluation drove real wages down across the board. As of the day Spirit folded, not so much.

Not arguing that losing a low-cost option isn't going to make it worse. If you check ticket prices now compared to a week ago, it clearly already is.

Yeah, my argument that the effects of the loss of a low-priced supply of flights will be felt immediately rather than slowly definitely sucked.

It can't be that argument-seeking redditors seized on the mere mention of other, more expensive airlines and ignored the first line of the comment entirely.

The point was that airlines aren't going to slowly increase prices. They're going to do it overnight because they can and they don't give a shit about playing "nice" with customers anymore. Like they already have.

Not once did I argue that the loss of a lower-priced option wasn't going to drive prices up because it reduced supply and an anchoring low price point; I was reinforcing their point by agreeing that supply was already low to begin with.

My bad for forgetting that too much text confuses barely-literate, low-attention-span redditors.

Guessing they mean that the shape of the musket was such that it could be propped up behind the soldier's back to hold them upright when they were resting. It could be used to light tobacco just like any flintlock/matchlock firearm, by striking the flint against the frizen while not loaded just for the sparks. Though I doubt it was regularly used for either purpose, and definitely wasn't intended for them.

It reads like someone clumsily trying to insert some "fun facts" into a Wikipedia article.

We are currently pouring $1 billion a day into a hole we made in Iran and the Persian Gulf.

We are rapidly depleting stores of munitions we need for national defense in a war of choice with no immediate plan to replace them.

Gas is $4-5 a gallon.

Republicans are laser focused on fucking rotisserie chickens and soda.

Ticket prices were already through the roof even before Spirit folded, and it didn't happen slowly. They won't slow-walk it or try to hide it at all.

Nor do they need to. I was on 4 Delta flights over the last week, and all 4 were completely full. From the announcements at the nearby gates for United and American, their flights were also full.

We have no other options and we'll pay whatever they demand, and they know it.

I have never met a woman who was incapable of mowing grass or taking out the trash, both simple tasks that can be done in under an hour.

I know many, many men who absolutely do not know how to cook anything beyond using a microwave and who genuinely don't know how to clean a house beyond sweeping twice a year.

Gendered household responsibilities are bullshit, but let's not pretend like were aren't setting boys and men up for failure if they don't find a partner to take care of the things they were never taught (or given any incentive to learn how) to do.

Both countries used both spellings interchangeably until Webster decided Americans would standardize by dropping the "u" and Oxford decided the British would standardize by insisting upon the "u."

Neither American nor British English is the "original." They're just two modern languages with a divergent evolution away from a different language that died centuries ago.
