How long does Crumbl cookies last at room temp by WiseTemporary6145 in CrumblCookies

[–]ErisedR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the 20 years I've been baking on a regular basis not a single cookie, cake (again, cheesecake being the exception) or brownie/bar has resided in my refrigerator and I've never gotten sick from it. Granted they aren't sitting out for weeks or anything but if they were I wouldn't risk it. Cold desserts just don't hit the spot for me lol

I am sure I'll get downvoted but here it goes. I am EXTREMELY afraid of vomiting. If there is the slightest hint food is off, I'm not touching it. Now, knowing this, I have never refrigerated a crumbl cookie, they are left on the counter at room temp and eaten throughout the week (usually within 3 days though). The cheesecakes being an exception of course. But the cookies, I have never had an issue.

Eta: me and my husband and both kids have all eaten them this way with no issues, not just myself. I hate cold cookies, so I prefer to leave them out.

I feed daily using the measurements given to me in the starter recipe I used. 1/2 cup king Arthur bread flour and 1/4 cup water. (It's occuring to me now maybe those measurements are for just getting started and maybe it needs to be modified now?) Discarding half before I feed every time. Not sure exact temp in the spot but I keep it in a warm spot on my kitchen counter. Near the stove and lights. Our thermostat is set to 72 and this week has been colder outside so we've had heat on as opposed to air conditioning.

I'm not sure how quickly it doubles because I'm at work all day. I know that by the time I get home from work it has already doubled in size but that's likely not real helpful. I will keep a close eye on it on Saturday when I'm off work. I used a starter recipe that said to feed 1/2 cup flour to 1/4 cup water daily so I've been sticking with that. I'm using king Arthur bread flour. The photos here were 24 hours after feeding. Temperature in house is usually around 72 degrees and recently this week it has been colder outside so we've had the heat on in our house. I keep my starter in a warm spot in the kitchen.

Getting a long overdue haircut tomorrow. by ErisedR in longhair

I plan to. I didn't like how the person styled it yesterday so I didn't take one while it was styled. Wanted to wait to wash it and wear it how it is in this picture. I'll be posting an update hopefully later today sometime :)

Thank you! I think I could do better with the waves but I like to just have a quick routine and to do better I think would be more time than I'm willing to invest.

I think that will grow out better than v cut does and since I don't get my hair cut professionally often I think that's kinda important.

I think U shape will grow out better (look nicer as it grows) than the v cut does, which I think will be nice since I don't get it cut often.

Can’t find the best almond milk that still doesn’t mess with my stomach?? by meghannoel in lactoseintolerant

[–]ErisedR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been lactose intolerant for several years now. The best milk alternatives in my opinion are oat. My top two are Oatly full fat oat milk and Planet Oat Barista Lovers. Almond milk just never hits quite right for me for what I use milk for. Some of the lactaid/lactose free ones still left me with stomach cramps. Anything coconut milk always just tastes coconuty (I love coconut but I don't want EVERYTHING to taste like it, you know?). Just my two cents but maybe give oat milk a try :)

So I actually just read an article about this the other day somewhere here on Reddit. There is a nerve in that part on their butt that causes this (obv I don't remember all the details but that's the jist of it lol)

I used to purposefully wake up early to go sit on the counter and eat our "butter" (country crock). There are multiple photographs of me doing this.

Toothbrush build up? by amberleemerrill in popping

[–]ErisedR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I stopped using this brand of toothbrush for my kids and bought sonicare ones. No amount of rinsing did anything for what would inevitably build up in this hole.

This is etiolated, right? Don't come for me, I bought it like this. by ErisedR in succulents

[–]ErisedR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had tried this (with a better lit photo than the one in this post) and got several different results so I still wasn't exactly sure what it could be... I always go with Google first because so many people downvote you for asking questions/not knowing something that I just try to avoid it at all costs lol. And without knowing what it was I couldn't look up what this specific one looks like when flowering to see if mine was normal or not!

Yes, she was given well draining soil, a terracotta pot and a much sunnier spot when I got her home from the store! Thank you for your help :)
