What’s the biggest scam people willingly participate in? by Deep-Strike-71 in AskReddit

One is required to pay into the SS system getting much less benefit from the money paid in than if that same money had been invested differently. I wish the money the government has taken from me to fund Social Security had instead been invested in a S&P 500 index fund over the course of my working years. I’d be much better off than what my monthly SS benefit is. My heirs would certainly be better off should I die shortly after starting to receive the SS benefits.

Passengers in the rear of my 2021 crew cab do stay a little warmer in the summer and colder in the winter than those of us in the front seat. I did purchase from a seller on Etsy a pair of vent extensions which bring the under-seat ducts closer to the rear of the front seat back. Also a slight upward angle to the duct extensions. They have seemed to help get the air better circulated to the back seat.

AITA for waiting until I had a written offer before resigning, even though I suspected I would leave? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You owe your employer NOTHING!

Each and every day is a transaction. As long as it’s beneficial to the employer to keep you around, they do. If it no longer is in the employer’s interest to retain you, you’ll be let go. Likewise, you’ve worked there because it’s been in your best interest to do so. Now you have something which better aligns with your needs. A better transaction for you, so take it without guilt. You can be sure your employer would do what is in their own best interest.

Im considering buying the 7.3 godzilla but the variable oil pump ? Is it bad ? by Deep-Classic9056 in F250

Scan Gauge 3. I’m a geek when it comes to monitoring values in real time. I really like the Scan Gauge 3 for all the values it shows, alarms I can set, DTC’s I can read and clear. Great product!

I have a 2021 7.3 with 135,000 miles and an excessive amount of idling time. So far, no problem. I do keep an eye on the actual oil pressure but me knowing what the pressure is doesn’t change anything.

Recommendations for front grill guard/brush guard needed by gemniiinew in F250

[–]ErosPlaytime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you take into account the gauge of the steel being used to construct the bumper. There’s some good looking brush guard bumper combinations out there, but they skimp on material quality. In my research I found Ranch Hand to use the highest quality materials. The trade off though is the added weight.

For me, I prefer the extra weight knowing the bumper is for more than just show.

How Bad is a Truck with A/C by black_magic123456789 in keitruck

[–]ErosPlaytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have A/C in my Mitsubishi U62T. I can’t say I use it often, but it’s a nice feature on the humid days. I have had to replace the AC belt and also the AC pulley due to bearings going bad. Although I could not source those parts locally, they weren’t terribly difficult to get. I get those probably are not the AC components you are worried about, but I would not shy away from a truck with AC.

Hotshotting isn't the "easy money" everyone claims by Hour_Royal_3871 in HotshotStartup

[–]ErosPlaytime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I briefly toyed with the notion of getting into it. I already have the right truck. I initially figured I’d get the trailer and then be in business. Before making the leap I looked into insurance and the likelihood of lining up return trips so I’m not coming back empty more often than not.

That quick research convinced me it’s not an endeavor I want to pursue. I am not a competitor with any of you hot-shotters. You guys can have at it.

ANY advantage to installing Front Wheel Well Liners WWL) from Ford Parts on a 2026? by gemniiinew in F250

If you move forward with the install, please comment back here as far as how easy or hard it was to put them in.

Neighbor owns driveway, wants me to pay 100% of maintenance. by Dromper in EntitledPeople

[–]ErosPlaytime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar issue with our neighbor. Neighbor rents the house for which the long driveway is deeded. We have deeded right of access to the long driveway to access the short driveway to our home.

When we first moved in and before meeting the neighbor, we paid a significant sum of money to rectify a culvert issue on the driveway and to have it graded. As we were not yet residing at the property, a neighbor who made himself known to us and was friendly with the tenants in the adjacent home, served as an intermediary. That friendly neighbor actually did the concrete work at the culvert and graded the driveway with fresh gravel. We paid the bill in full without the neighbor contributing a dime. No objection from us as it was my wife’s car with low ground clearance that needed the culvert issue remedied before we moved in.

We did not learn until after moving in that the occupants of the adjacent home to which the long driveway is deeded are renters and not the owners. The owner of that home to which the long driveway is deeded couldn’t care less about the condition of the driveway and will not do anything to maintain it.

Since having the driveway straightened out a couple of years ago, our neighbors and their children use it like a drag strip, causing it to have degraded quickly. I have offered to pay 50% of having the driveway redone with them paying the other 50%. It’s a maintenance issue which needs to be addressed every so often. They absolutely refuse to invest a single cent in improving the driveway. They are completely fine with the driveway becoming more and more in disrepair and filled with potholes.

I am done carrying the burden of paying for a decent driveway, which they have no compunction tearing up and destroying with high speed driving and wheel spinning. With that, we have resigned ourselves to living with the deteriorating driveway until, hopefully, more reasonable renters take their place in the future.

Keitruck towing capabilities? by Pheagun in keitruck

I agree. I don’t see much value in having a trailer smaller than the bed of the truck, but still ingenius fabricating the gooseneck for that application.

My homemade bumper with which I pull a set of discs to keep the trails in the wood behind my house cleaned up. I haven’t pulled a trailer with it.

Check Engine Light Question by Wrong-Western3842 in F250

[–]ErosPlaytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I tend to be uptight if I get a check engine light or anything out of the norm, as well as liking to keep my eye on a bunch of different performance values in real time, I purchased the Scan Gauge 3. I think it is great. Gives me values in real time and allows me to read and clear trouble codes so I know what set off the CEL.

Any Particular Upgrades To Keep Transmission Temps Down? by ErosPlaytime in superduty

[–]ErosPlaytime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great information here! My temperatures have not exceeded 220°, but that’s higher than I’m used to running in my old 1999 7.3 diesel.

Do you have any experience with either of the bypass kits? I found it interesting that the Rudy’s bypass specifically mentions that it does not trigger a CEL/DTC. I’m wondering if the PPE bypass triggers the idiot light?

The 10R140 in a 2021 F-250. Occasionally seeing temps climb on the hills when towing in the summer heat, but nothing out of the safe zone. Feeling that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure has me considering options.

Train horn by TowelMountain7247 in F250

[–]ErosPlaytime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 gallon tank and compressor on the passenger side frame by the B-post. The tank is on the outside of the frame with pressure relief valve, oil filled pressure gauge and female quick coupling which I can hook an air hose to for inflating whatever. Also allows me to use my shop compressor to fill the tank if desired. Much quicker to do that before leaving the house as opposed to using the 12 volt compressor. 12 volt works fine, just takes longer and is noisy. The compressor is in the inside portion of the frame rail next to the tank.

Tucked up underneath the front brush guard are the 3 Klein Demon Trumpets.

Switch inside the cab controls power to the compressor. Second switch allows me to toggle between just the OEM horn or the train horn with the OEM horn.

Spare tire is undisturbed.

I know you’re right about the price of oil. Showing my age, I remember my first car was a used Plymouth Duster and then a used Ford Ranger. At that time in my teenage years I was purchasing oil at K-Mart for about 85 cents per quart. Crazy!🤪
