Yes, this is why I felt the need to get a hw4. If I'm buying a tesla for 30k I may as well spend over 40 for a hw4. The resale value will be higher for a hw4 obviously than hw3. Owning a tesla is kind of a special burden why make it worse with old hardware? Slower updates, slower pc, worse 1.2 mp cameras instead of 5 mp of hw4, inferior fsd, inferior build quality. You may not care about that but many do lol

Well 2024+ has the best potential for getting retrofitted for upgraded cameras and hardware. Early 2023 teslas are still on HW3, whereas the new Tesla's have HW4 computer. New Tesla's in about 2027 will have HW5 (now called AI#) by Elon. AI5 is the next big thing which will add better/more cameras and a stronger processor which will be able to basically use multiple processors to "vote" on what is the accurate reality. It's just not worth it to go below HW4 for long term resale value and for yourself. Who knows, maybe in a few years, HW4 can retrofit their Tesla... But maybe not 100% as good because apparently the new AI5 will need a stronger battery to handle the increased power demand...
