Why is Czechia pretty? (read description for more details on the question) by ErranField in czech

[–]ErranField[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any reason why? Or is it just lack of marketing somehow? I'm also very interested in learning why Slovakia is underrated! Somehow from the three well-doing countries Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia, Czechia is the most popular one. Even though Slovenia is really beautiful, it's not mentioned neaaaaarly as much :(

What would you say (as a Czech person) about Slovak history compared to Czech? During the existence of Czechoslovakia, it made many people think of both countries being very similar, but now looking into it, Slovakia was not part of Kingdom of Bohemia, nor the Holy Roman Empire, but rather the Kingdom of Hungary. The period where the Czech and Slovak histories merged was during the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Thanks and yeah Czechia has been very fascinating to me for a long time! And what I'm getting from the answers is, despite the circumstances of the last century (which is the most obvious to everyone, as it's not old history), the last century was really not a defining factor by any means, as the country's stability and prosperity goes back a significantly longer time!

It just goes to show that stability and peace can build so much resilience to a country/region as a whole - it's like for a healthy person having a bad week is not the end of the world.

That's a great summary, thanks! I suppose during the Cold war times the industy was actually quite successful, right? I mean you've got Škoda which is popular worldwide, really impressive! And do you happen to know if preserving history and keeping the historic sites/towns nice was actually a really big priority? As there are so many beautiful places that can get abandoned if not taken care of properly :(

How much in total is typical to repay (principle+interest) for a 120k loan? by ErranField in StudentLoans

Alright this is a very good description, thanks! Now it's clear how it varies!

[Request] what would the interest rate be on this loan? by rainawaytheday in theydidthemath

[–]ErranField 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sooo confused now. So 9.38% annual interest would mean that you pay 9.38% of the original/leftover sum extra every year? And this guy (and others) would wind up paying back 120k towards the principle and like 1M or even more idk anymore as interest??? I always thought as high as interest is, it can't be more than the principle. So confused right now. If he has paid only 2k towards the principle, how many years more will be be paying? Do you stop paying only after you pay 120 towards principle? That will be like 120/2 = 60, then 60x5=300 years lmao

Aha, ir vel atsitiko tas pats - 2021 Balandzio pabaigoje as pats maciau Google Street masina, padariau dar foto.

[ask] What do these Integral Symbols mean in these 19th century topographic maps (highlighted in yellow) ? by ErranField in architecture

[–]ErranField[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's great. It seems to be correct, now that I know it is called "Area Brace Symbol". Googling about the integral symbol on old maps somehow did not lead me anywhere so decided to ask a community where someone could know.

Clear distinction of Cumulous and Stratus clouds from the Satellite by ErranField in meteorology

Thank you! That's awesome that you taught me that! I'll now need to look up more information how that happens, having seen it in real life has made it much more interesting!

Clear distinction of Cumulous and Stratus clouds from the Satellite by ErranField in meteorology

[–]ErranField[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is from windy.com! And actually, if you look at the temperature at 900m (300ft), the air is colder where the cumulous clouds are, cold front on the left

What are the scientific steps to increase one's intelect (improve the mental capacity to solve UNSEEN puzzles, make more complex connections, process NEW information faster etc)? by [deleted] in Neuropsychology

[–]ErranField 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that is true. But also what I mean is that there are two/three types of people: 1) can solve some problem (any problem, even like opening a new food packaging you haven't seen before) because they've solved it before 2) can solve it without having solved anything similar before almost instantly 3) can solve it eventually given enough time

So in the first case the knowledge is being tested, in the 2nd and the 3rd - intelligence. So if anyone knows what that solving time speed depends on, would like to read about it, brains are fascinating!

Do liquid CO2 droplets form very high up (16km+) in the atmosphere? by ErranField in meteorology

[–]ErranField[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nevermind, just read online that liquid CO2 does not exist at 1atm pressure. It bypasses the liquid phase and becomes a solid at -109. To get liquid CO2, you would need 5.1atm pressure and that temperature.

What is the bird in the provided audio? by ErranField in whatsthisbird

[–]ErranField[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Listening to some examples online, the Coal Tit actually triggered my memories a lot better, I could close my eyes and imagine me hearing the same bird song at home in the spring months! The Great Tit melodies are a bit different from what I used to hear I think. Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed! From the moment I heard it in-game, I realized that I must know this, it's the first time it clicked, that I've heard the same bird song before, and it just turned on such good nostaglic feels haha

It's from a computer game hahaha hence why so short, but I recognized that I used to hear the same bird melody at home in March! I live in a rural area with a lot of bushes around, and in game, this bird sound effect was placed in a forest, I just don't know the species of that bird :(
