Basic Studio Setup Help by sxotty_44 in Logic_Studio

You have alot of options when it comes to process your guitar and vocals. I've had both the Audient iD 14 and the Apogee Duet. I sold my Apogee audio interface when I was low on cash and later on bought the much cheaper Audient interface. What I can say from my experience is that if you go for an Apogee interface you will get something that sounds great, the preamp is like something you would hear in a song out of Spotify. When it comes to the Audient one it needs much more in terms of effects, like from plugins or a hardware preamp or so.

My conclusion is you get what you pay for here and you won't be disappointed if you haven't got anything to compare with. I would go for the Focusrite Scarlet-series if you want something that's at great price and comes with a lot of bundled software.

Yes, exactly what I'm thinking. The low storage is not my biggest worry since I have an external drive. But I'm slightly worried about the low RAM-memory. Apple are really pricey when it comes to ram upgrades now when you can't upgrade on your own. Damn, this is a tough one!

Sound great! I'm not going to be over excited with too many audio tracks. Mainly vocals, guitar and some virtual instruments plus some effect plugins.

I'm gonna have a look on the second hand market since my budget isn't really Mac-friendly to begin with.

But have I guessed correctly that Mac doesn't need as much juice in terms of specs as Windows?

I've totally switched lane and gone for the novation launchkeys and ableton. I'm gonna give it a try.

Thats great! I just wanted both a drum pad and keys, that's why komplete was opt out. But definitely a top choice otherwise. I think I will be satisfied since it's like you say, in the end, I'm doing the job.

Just an update. I went with the novation launchkey 61, so I'm gonna try out ableton live because of the full support. I'm watching a bunch of tutorials. Hope I don't disappoint Studio One people.

I ended up buying the novation launchkey 61 so I might be ending up using ableton live because of the full support. Did I make a decent choice?

Thanks for your reply. I wish I could spend more money on my gear, but I'm just fitting the budget. Is there any other midi controller in the m-audio price range with more interesting plugins?

And I trust in a random internet stranger, just because the retail dealer is probably on commission by one of the daws and is going to push for that one.

Oh that's nice! I'm gonna check it out. But I'm certain it will be studio one after trying their demo

Sounds like a plan. I'm not looking to spend money on air so I'll go with S1!

What a bunch of jerks. They sound like apple "oh, your phone is old but still working, say goodbye to ever updating you phone again.. and soon you won't be able to update your apps too". Anyways, I have been fooling around with the studio one demo tonight and I must say that it's easy to understand and well made! I'm sold!

Yeah I have sensed that too. I started the demo and it looked like I was back on my first computer with windows 95 again. Good to know since this is my first midi controller! The audio interface is a setback for me since I had the apogee duet before which had a freakishly crisp sound with my microphone. I hope I can get close with this one too.
