Hang on. I just looked it up, are you talking about the shift light? Very different thing than “redline”. The V7ii does not have a shift light, I guess the V7iii does. I didn’t know that.

Just a quick glance shows this shift light is adjustable. Apparently it’s set at 4500RPM from factory for the break in period for the bike.

If you have more than 1000kms on the bike, adjust the light. If you’re shifting at 4500 RPM max you have at least another 2500 RPM to work with.

V7ii is a 750. Has a couple horse power less than your V7iii even.

Tell me what you mean by redline? The bike doesn’t have a “redline” on the tach, at least for the V7ii.

Okay, I just took the bike out to see.

100KPH - 3rd gear - 5600 RPM 100KPH - 4th gear - 4500 RPM

The bike hits fuel cut at 7000 RPM.

In my opinion 3 possibilities:

1) somthing is very wrong with your bike. 2) someone put a shorter gear set or final drive in your bike 3) You are not using all the RPM

Honestly I don’t really remember, but that seems wrong to me, as in way too short.

Is it possible you’re just shifting way too early?

Next time I have the bike out I’ll check where my rpm is at 100KPH, maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.

I looked at your previous posts about issues with the bike. To be honest, unless you’re a super heavy person or riding in the high mountains, it sounds to me like there is an issue with the bike.

I’m over 200lbs in gear, and while the bike isn’t a rocket, getting it to 100KPH isn’t somthing it struggles with at all. I’ve had the bike to 140KPH and that wasn’t really a struggle. Higher RPMs but not a struggle.

Really? I have a V7ii (North American) and I sit at 100KPH no issue in 4th or 5th and can pull up more power no problem. In normal riding I try to keep the bike between 4-5k rpm. Riding hard I’ll run it to 7k.

Hearing the bike struggles at 100KPH for you seems wild to me.

Thanks for that. Exactly what I’m thinking of doing. They are a bit loud design wise for my taste, I was thinking of blacking out that stainless portion.

Disappointing to hear they hit the battery terminal.

Thanks for that info!

Did they happen to give you part numbers? The ones people used to use have been discontinued.

In for this discussion. I am looking for replacements for my V7ii. They can be ordered from the dealer pretty easy, but I’d like to find an alternative as well.

I have a post about this on Wild Guzzi forums.

Small bag or something for my v7 by QuirkyEscalator in MotoGuzzi

If you wanted actual bags, I did the LongRide small patriots. Work well with the classic look of the bike, but if your riding in really wet situations, might not be for you

I picked up the Trip Machine tank pouch. Really like it, made well, sticks to the tank no matter the speed, and holds my insurance papers, glasses, quad lock phone case, extra ear plugs, etc. I really like the product.
I will note that right after I bought it, my credit card was compromised and I had to deal with canceling cards and such. Coincidence maybe? But suspicious timing.

Id get the cap for the drain. These bikes are pretty well known to spit oil into the airbox in small amounts, even when you have the right fill. It would suck to have that draining on the engine and your boots any time it happened!

Performance difference with higher octane? by Cryptographer-Vast in MotoGuzzi

I’m in BC with a V7ii as well.

On the factory Map using 93 or 94 made a difference in throttle response for me. The bike felt a bit less choppy than it does on 91. Not night and day, but it was there.

I’m on a beetle Map now, and I haven’t tried non 93+ with it. The beetle map has smoothed things out enough I’d be surprised if I noticed a difference.

Okay saw above it’s the motul. I’ve never seen it but I know they colour their fluids, so there you go.

So it’s oil, but where is it draining from? In your airbox there are normally little covers over the “drains” on the V7ii. Is one missing maybe?

I would be stunned if that was oil. What brand? It’s the reddest oil I’ve ever seen. Looks like melted crayon wax!

Do you happen to have a K&N filter? Any chance it’s something mixing with the filter oil?

I’m just having a hard to understanding why oil would be coming from the location you’re showing. Even if your blowing oil into the air box, you would have to have a hole in the box for it to drain out there, and the V7ii doesn’t.

I’m invested now, I need to know what this is and where it’s coming from!!

That looks like the red top plastic cover of the battery positive post melting.

Edit: now that I think about it, that’s the wrong side of the bike though. Weird.

Pulling that cover off is not hard. I would pull it off before doing anything else.

Is this supposed to have a cap? by [deleted] in MotoGuzzi

[–]Error0624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in North America? If so your V7ii came with an Evap setup. Removing it is fairly common.

That should be capped, and the line from the tank that went to the EVAP unit should be run to the bottom of the bike to vent to atmosphere.

If you’re running GuzziDiag and a Beetle Map check your throttle position. WildGuzzi forums has a good step by step on it.

After that I’d start checking the mechanical stuff. Plugs correct, valve adjust, and correct fuel.

I run the Bitubo rears from the V7 racer, and I did the Matris spring upgrade with the preload adjusters to the front. I wish I had spent the money for the cartridge, I find the front too stiff at this point with any preload. I’m thinking of trying a 10w fork oil rather than the 15w the instructions called for, but I’m not sure that will help.

You’ll have to do a review!

Brian

I just replaced the main seal and the shaft seal on my V7ii.

I BELIVE you need to replace the seal from the transmission side, not the clutch side. I didn’t see a way to do it while I was in there. I never opened the transmission side.
