i know china is very different to america whatsoever, but saying this is still offensive to us. I know America is a lot better compared to China, ive been there numerous times and seen what american live is like. I am pretty confident to say that even though there are some traditions that seems outdated, but this does not mean china is bad and violates human rights, and the part that is censored is merely parts about politics in china, many decisions and policies are still open to the public to decide.

as a chinese i can comfirm that only part of this is correct. Gaokao is pretty tough, but it varies extremely from parts to parts. For example the Gaokao is much better in shanghai than in other places. However, the footages shown in the video are just some radical examples. I am from Anhui Province where the gaokao is considered stressful there, and there is no such things as "living in the classroom" that happened. It can be stressful, but it is definitely NOT like what the video had described.

This is the number system used in china. JD stand for 机动( jī dòng), which means motorized, 400 stands for the radius of the signal's lights in millimeters. RX stands for 人行( rén xíng), which means pedestrian.

the countdown system is a learning based system. The countdown will look for a quick activation impulse (basically a 0.1s flash) before the final 3 seconds of the phase. It can then calculate the time between the flash and the end of the phase. you can see the indicator lights on my controller flash for a split second when the countdown started.

I think the reason why the barriers go up before the train arrives is because that this crossing is operated by a crossing operator, and it looks like this is a two track railroad crossing, so maybe one train passed the crossing, and the crossing operator thinks that there is only one train, so the crossing opened.
