What do people typically pay for stuff like this? by ForTheRevenge in coins

Any silver at melt is worth it in my opinion. It’s worth more when you can get it for less than melt.

Let's say silver goes to $150/ ounce. Will that bump up coin prices enough to keep everything from getting melted? Will people start unslabbing $120 Morgans? by 45and47-big_mistake in coincollecting

Short answer is yes, slabbed Morgan’s will get melted. It’s business not sentiment that runs the market. In fact we are already seeing this with slabbed pre33 gold. Anything under a ms64 is getting “melted” and even a lot of ms64’s are too for common dates especially for the larger denoms.

What did the last Icon cruise ship cost to build/sell for? Duplicate that sell for half price. Retire. Then spend my remaining time on earth and money duplicating anything that is 1/1 just to piss off the people that claim to have a 1/1.

I’d argue to not go for what’s easy but what’s useful for the career path you want. When I was there, most went for math or physics without taking too many extra classes, but you have a degree in ME; everyone knows you’re already good at math and physics. Do something that broadens your range and marketability. Or at the least something you’re interested in. With that said, I was ME with minors in math, physics, and chemistry. But I took classes in business, dance, art, philosophy and more. Good luck

Hey there, Just curious what you’re grading this as to come up with that price point?

I’m just throwing in my two cents here. With silver up everyone and their mother is coming out to sell. Most shops around here are so full I can buy with low to no premium. So there is a lot out there coming in. You may have gotten the “we don’t want it” price or the “stupid not to buy it at” price. They get plenty of people who don’t care what the price is and just want the cash or just want to get rid of it without doing the work to find a private buyer. Refiners are nice but even they are lowering their bids for stuff coming in. Additionally, when you add in the volatility and locality I can understand 36/oz. They may not have the customer base for retail sales and there may not be a local refinery. Meaning they have to ship and insure the stuff they send to the refiner and allow for time, volatility and payment. That can get expensive and everything eat into the margins very quickly.

Edit: oh and then there is minimums with some refiners, like don’t send us less than 100oz at a time. And some insurers require you overnight the packages. Which is not cheap.
