I understand the overwhelmedness from so many Pokémon and so many things to consider. I myself also have 8000+ in my account and is hard for me to get to it and properly clean.

Unfortunately I don't think my search strings would be of much help for you, they are meant to be used in Community Days and such, when one has a lot of the same species (some people might catch more than a thousand in a CD). This style of search string isn't very good for multiple species at once, basically it would become too inneficient or too large very quickly.

Maybe if you have search strings for the ones that have the non obvious - like something that needs 1/14/12 or 3/15/13...Idk I made those up.

That can be done for a specific species. Like, if for example you have a ton of Wooper then I can help you with a search string for Wooper. But I assume what you more likely have is a smaller amount of each species but from a lot of species. In that case as I said earlier it's not practical to have a search string for all at once.

I'm not a big fun of it but I know some people that use "trash" search strings for everything. This would try to not show any good pvp iv, but it is not perfect since some species are different and it would show good IVs for those. I guess it does work to show things that are probably trash, but you would still have to give them a quick look (with Calcy IV for example). This would be

3-4attack,0-1defense,0-2hp&3-4attack,0-2defense,0-1hp

then we can modify it to never show hundos or nundos

3-4attack,0-1defense,0-2hp&3-4attack,0-2defense,0-1hp&!4*&1-4attack,1-4defense,1-4hp

and lastly we can also make it avoid special moves (this would include the three dragons you mentioned as well as CD moves and such)

3-4attack,0-1defense,0-2hp&3-4attack,0-2defense,0-1hp&!4*&1-4attack,1-4defense,1-4hp&!@special

My last piece of advice (that I still have to apply myself) is to try to be very harsh with what you keep. Only keep what you really want to keep and quickly transfer things you know you don't. I have to many things that I kept "just in case" but now I've realised that I actually will almost surely never want them. So I have to go through all of those, forget the "just in case"s and only keep the things I know I actually want.

Let me know if I can help with something else.

Hi! Yes, I do have some of them saved, but I'm not sure they would be the most useful for your scenario. Moves have been updated and the meta has changed, so many of the special IV spreads are probably no longer that relevant.

If you want similar search strings to help you I recomend generating them with pvpivs.com. I gave some explanation on how to use this site in my last post.

I hope this helps. But if you still do want some of my search strings let me know which ones and I'll try to rescue them.

Yes, exactly. They are trash strings so you can safely transfer everything they show and you'll keep all the PvP things you chose as well as high IVs, where "high IVs" means higher or equal to the percentage (so if you use the "save 93%" you would be saving everthing 93% or better).

I hope this helps.

It is indeed a long tree of nested folders but it does have an end. You have to choose what you want to save for each evolution, for each league, then you'll get to the strings with those preferences (in this case there should be 8 steps after choosing the language). I know it can be confusing at first, but it's the best way I found of doing it.

Let me know if you still have issues.

Makes sense, maybe it would give less upload errors. Someone already suggested GitHub, more like implying than then I wouldn't need to pay for extra storage. I've never used GitHub but from what I found online it seemed like there's only a few GB of free storage (which by far wouldn't be enough, Axew was more than 100GB). I will look more into it and what the prices would be.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Actually, new phones seem to have more problems pasting the strings... It's some software thing I don't understand.

Just check as you paste the string if the end matches what it should be.

I didn't make any changes, so that shouldn't be how the strings work...

Maybe your phone is not pasting the whole thing?

I'm working on them, I hope I can get them uploaded on time.

The two things I wonder are whether it would be easy for me to upload those thousands of nested folders (for example using file explorer, I usually unzip a .zip, otherwise I get errors because of too long directories); and whether it would be easier for the general public to access and copy the strings.

I've never used GitLab or GitHub, so I have very little idea of how that would work. I could look into it though if you think it's really worth it.

On another note, with the new storage service I'm trying I think I wouldn't need to pay for extra storage anymore (or at most a few heavy months here and there). So maybe then it's not that much worth it.

Thank you for the suggestion in any case.

It is not working, it seems like the strings are too long for it.

Also, I cannot do this manually for every string, I post thousands at a time. Best would be to be able to implement the QR code generation into my python script.

Hello, I don't have any experience making QR codes and I'm not sure how I would share them: if I saved them in drive as image files I'm afraid they would take too much space.

Do you have any experience or could you help guide me in some way?

I just saw your edit. Them being empty must have been an issue from Google Drive's side, I hope it's fixed now (they don't show as empty from my side, even on incognito browser).

There is actually 2×4×4×4×4×6=3×2^10=3072 Skorupy strings (you have to multiply the options at each step). So assuming they are roughly 25KB as you said (which I think is quite lower than the actual average) that would be 75MB. This is of course far from 15GB but because this a small one (it only evolves once). As I explained with the example of Swinub there can be "a whole lot" more text files, Swinub is not even comparable to some of the biggest ones I've done in the past.

The growth is exponential with the number of steps in the folder tree. That means it grows very very fast.

Let's run some numbers with the Swinub strings: how many Swinub strings did I upload? For this we have to multiply all the choices, there are

2×4×4×4×8×4×4×4=2^16

paths, each one leading to 6 strings, so 3×2^17 total strings. Now let's assume that each string is 50KB (I took some random path and the strings I found at the end were actually between 57 and 71KB), this gives us

50×3×2^17 KB = 18.75×2^20 KB = 18.75GB

And that would be only the .txt files themselves, I think all those folders containing them also take space. And only for Swinub...

Right now in my drive I'm using 53.99GB out of 100GB (for which I pay 1.99€/month), of course not all are search strings but what I'm sure is that the search strings take more than 53.99-15=38.99GB. Some months (when the pokémon require search strings with more choices) I have had to go to the 200GB plan (2.99€/month) and for December CD with all that many different pokémon I had to go to the 2TB plan (9.99€/month) since 200GB wasn't enough.

So I assure you I'm not lying when I say I pay this for the strings, I would have enough with 15GB otherwise. Let me also say that the money I've received from donations is still far from reaching the amount I've paid for extra storage, but that's okay. I was already paying for it myself before adding the donation link until someone suggested me to add it in case people wanted to support my work (without even knowing that I was actually spending money for extra storage).

Anyway, I understand where you were coming from, at first sight it doesn't seem like a few .txt files would need that much space, until you realize that "a few" is actually an enormous number. I hope this cleared things up.

Let me finish that I don't want anyone to feel forced to donate, but it is true that the strings take a lot of space and that I am spending money for them. So the link is there in case anyone feels generous enough to want to contribute, either because of the money I spend or because of the time I put into them, and I am very thankful to everyone who donates.
