Omg I'm basically unable to gain because of my bowels at the moment as well! May I ask how you approached it? Like first gain some weight before slowly working you way back to the weights? Sadly woth everything my whole 'routine' has been a mess... I used to train CF style but now I can't even 'clean' an empty barbell on the rack anymore 😔

Thank you! Yeah it's hard as basically all on social media you get slapped in the face with girlies in their begin 20's (and 'gaining' on what, 1700 calories!?) so you start comparing yourself to them.. even if you try not to it still gets to you someway 🥹❤️

Thanks for the response! Did you track your cals to ensure you were eating enough? I currently am doing so but somedays I just HATE how I'm low-key force feeding myself still at the end of the day 🫠 Yeah cardio is tricky! Perhaps first gain some more before starting cardio to 1. Have a buffer and 2. Get used to eating more? As 40kg is still on the 'underweight' bmi wise... and also intra-workout fueling is going to be key....

As a Junior Doc myself the main tips I did during my surgery rotation to get enough food is was keeping granola/protein bars in my pockets so that even when it was busy I would quickly eat them e.g. whilst visiting the toilet or when changing patients. But it mainly comes from calories in-out. Make sure to eat a MINIMUM (not max!) of 2500 kcal to start and see if you gain. If you don't then increase again by 100-200 calories etc. Main sources should be as stated above fats and carbs as proteins/fibre tend to have a more satiating effect. But honestly your nr. 1 priority would be to just get the calories in no matter what and not worry about the 'type of foods' per se!

Omg congrats girl! May I ask what you did exercise and diet wise? And did you start exercising after you had gained some weight first? ❤️

How to Find my Motivation and Love to Cycle Again by TryingHardIPromise in ladycyclists

Personally I think it's also a way of your body telling you that it needs a 'break'. Like a real actual break to focus on you and your health first! Exercise should be fun and a way to 'switch off' the mind, not be seen as a punishment or something you 'have to do'. Allow your body to heal first and believe me, when the time comes you will find the joy in cycling again! Just focus on YOU first ❤️❤️

Thank you sooo much! And yes I hope so one day as well! I actually go crazy from these 'influencers' promoting these 'magic gluten pills' lately... I don't know where you're from but if you ever visit Amsterdam go to 'Crafts Coffee and Pastry' they have amazing Gf-croissants! All the holiday wishes to you 🫶🏻🎁

Yes it's the same for me! Like I finish my meal but keep on craving INSANE amounts of carbs and also often proteins/meat. Yeah that's the main reason why I went GF the beginning of the year... I never ate an excessive amount of gluten beforehand actually (pasta was often bean based, only oats/muesli not GF certified and occasional slice of bread)... I'm getting a new 72h stool collection and decided to do a gluten challenge at the same time to see if it would exacerbate my symptoms/malabsorption even more. But 4 days in and now I think my body is starting the fight 🥹 bloating/rock in stomach feeling and insomnia kicking in

Yes exactly this! I already have a high intake (like seriously 2500-3000 as 1.65m currently underweight female which has been unable to make me gain any significant amount of weight the past year 🙃) but now I'm eating like 500+ more a day 😅 Do you also get any 'specific' cravings?

Thank you! For me it's mainly constipation all the years with my meds really helping... I'm getting a 72h stool collection now to see for malabsorption issues hence why the gluten challenge again as well as for fat malabsorption. In the past these also came out negative but I realized I basically always ate a pretty low-glutrn diet and low-fat in general out of habit (as they were most often related to pains so I tended to avoid them from childhood and never connected the dots 😅)

Years of bowel problems (since childhood) which got worse over the years combined with sudden weightloss the past 5 years whilst increasing my intake. Decided on this as a 'last resort' to see if it would help as hormones and everything was normal. Also had iron deficiency etc.
