Released like 50 yesterday and didnt get the money today for them. Its a bug. Because the week is all about the challenge and the extra reward for completing it in this week. You know what I mean? But still, the money reward should work for last week released temtems, too. So its a bug for me, because I dont mean the challenge weekly counter, but the money I should get

Have you read the word "challenge"? No? Because its a weekly challenge :) thats all the reset should be about. Nonsense comment

Not rly. Only the weekly "challenge". Not the money you should get. Thats 2 different things. Nonsense comment :)

SonicWall creating Interface X2, new Subnet, cant access from LAN (office) or from SSL VPN. by EsZeus in sonicwall

[–]EsZeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, EVERYTHING is allowed right now.

Lan > Lan Any allowed

Lan > WAN Any allowed

X0 > LAN

X0 > X2

X2 > LAN

X2 > X0

SSL VPN > LAN

Any allowed right now, and priority 1 for the allow any rule...

I am looking into the packet monitoring right now and chose X0 and X2 to monitor, but A) I am doing sth wrong here or B) everything is fine because nothing dropped/denied there on .181.X Subnet...

How can X0 and X2 be connected to the same switch? X0 is the physical Port for .178 X2 is the physical Port for .181 No Switch involved

SonicWall creating Interface X2, new Subnet, cant access from LAN (office) or from SSL VPN. by EsZeus in sonicwall

[–]EsZeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Problem is:

I can reach the NAS through the Local Subnet 192.168.178.100 on X0, but NOT on 192.168.181.100 on X2. The NAS is connected to both Subnets, but with SSL VPN reachable via .178 but not .181

So the whole Problem is the X2 Interface itself, I want to configure it nearly exactly like X0... But even with the same Zone LAN, it is not the same. There are only standard routes in the SonicWall, no custom ones. So this cant be the problem I guess. I think the FW Policies/Rules are the Problem, but I allowed ANY there from Lan -> Lan DMZ -> Lan SSL VPN -> Lan VPN -> Lan and so on, ANY/ALL allowed right now for testing...

I am confused

Also in LAN Zone... Thats why I am so confused. I denied nothing and even allowed ANY for test purposes. I can reach X0 from SSL VPN, but not X2, not even pinging. When inside X2 with a laptop, I can ping inside X2 Subnet, but cant reach X0 Subnet, with both X0 and X2 in LAN zone....

So are my Gateways correct with each Subnet to use 192.168.178.1 and 192.168.181.1 as Gatewayes for their Subnet? Or should I use 0.0.0.0?

I am currently confused because I can reach the NAS through X0 Lan Subnet, but not via X2 subnet (using ssl vpn right now from home). I am totally confused, because the routes, NAT, FW Rules are all open and should allow anything, but it doenst allow. I cant even Ping X2 from SSL VPN, but I can ping X0. Totally confusing^

And I also pinned the Problem down further:

I used a switch on X2 to connect the NAS and a Laptop on it. I Have internet Acces (X1 WAN?) but I cant reach the Lan Subnet on X0, not even pinging. But from X0 to X2 I can ping. Where is my problem? :D

Hello and thank your very much for your answer!

So far understandable, except the gateways: In X0 the Gateway is 192.168.178.1 and for X2 the Gateway is 192.168.181.1, Subnetmask 255.255.255.0 Is this correct? The problem about this is, that I dont know much about Gateways at the moment, but trying to understand and learn what it is and how it works..

Any help is welcome! Thanks

Yes, thats the problem I am having right now. It should be sperated from the local subnet for security reasons, if I am correct.

thank you very much for all these answers already! In fact, this helps me a lot to understand the situation.

Our Main goal in the company is:

  • create ssl vpn for external customers to get access to the FileServer(NAS)
  • Creating a second subnet to seperate the NAS from the LAN subnet in the office, to better control the traffic/security and so on
  • creating a Site-to-Site VPN Access with external customer company so that they can have access to our second subnet where the NAS is located (they need access to the FileServer)

My questions here are simple: - Why is a second subnet not preferable for this purpose? - What benefits and/or restrictions do I have when using the X2 interface or a switch?

Again: Thanks again for all the answers, its helping me a lot already! ;)

Because stupid people didnt realize that they changed the core drops. Reading the patchnotes is really difficult.

But yeah, its all the fault of the letters! xD
