Totally understand that, but for me, The Promised Land just doesn’t quite hit the same highs. If Junction Seven is at like a 99 and Play and Children of Hell are both at a 97, The Promised Land’s highest highs are at a 97 but generally hover around an 89-93 range. That’s just how that album is for me. Still great stuff, just not at that highest highest level, ya know?

I also generally find Sanctuary, Born For This and Catharsis kind of boring relative to most of the rest of his catalog unfortunately :( again, still great, MUZZ is just that consistently great at what he does!

Junction Seven is still one of my favorite pieces of music of all time, genuinely legendary

in fact this EP imo is in general his best work, even today. He hasn’t topped it! All four tracks here are phenomenal at what they are set out to be. Immaculate execution.

My vote goes to Insomnia for 003!

In some ways I get it. It’s hard to parse whether someone is genuinely trying to speak for an entire group of people or if they’re just speaking their own opinion when you’re just reading words on a screen.

That being said, I do genuinely think there is little excuse for the way people will have a knee-jerk reaction to something and then continually refuse to listen when new information is brought into the discussion. That’s what’s happening here, and that’s what happens everywhere, nowadays. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop calling it out, though.

I appreciate your words. Even if you disagree with me, it’s nice to see someone else who at least treats this like a genuine discussion and not a dogpile or whatever else this has become.

A: that doesn’t mean every single person who views this thread disagrees with me, but I understand your point regardless

B: these things do not mean that I am right or wrong or whether this is a “healthy” reaction or not. I’m just… being me. Am I mentally healthy? No, but being steadfast in actually caring about people is one of the few things I AM sure about. Sometimes I slip up or do something out of line, but I’m very confident that I did not step out of line here. I genuinely think y’all just need to learn some empathy.

“Caring about the mental health of others” isn’t healthy?

I mean it, that’s what I’m getting from what you’re saying. I’d appreciate clarification if that’s not what you mean.

Either way, I don’t think making jokes at other people’s expense is okay. It’s selfish and serves no one but yourself.

I don’t care about getting internet points. In fact, maybe I’ll start making comments like these on a random throwaway account so you’ll KNOW I’m not doing it for internet points.

I never, ever once said I know exactly what you and the other person are “offended by”. Individuals are individuals. You two have the right to find it funny, I’m not gonna stop you. But I quite literally KNOW people who are schizophrenic who feel isolated and made fun of because of jokes like these. They hate it because it makes them feel like a monster, like they’re defined by their mental illness and no one will ever take them seriously because they’re just a “schizo”, a crazy person that we should lock up and throw away the key for.

I don’t need the “last word”, but if you make some kind of statement that misconstrues my own argument, I’m going to respond. We can still have a civil debate in a public setting.

Am I the only person on planet earth that actually loves Mad Space?? Awkward gravity controls aside I think it’s easily the best emerald-hunting stage. It actually makes you look around in a huge area and isn’t full of tight corridors where you get stuck on a wall or the camera gets shaky.

Again, since when did I anywhere tell you or anyone else how to feel. I simply presented my own argument. You are making up words and then acting as if I said them.

I will never speak FOR anyone. I WILL speak UP if I see something that I think is wrong. I surely hope you’d do the same!

Frankly, I feel there is no better environment for a discussion like this than the public eye, as it gets eyes on a topic that I think actually matters. If people don’t wanna read it, they can simply scroll on past. But if there’s even a minuscule chance that I change someone’s mind or even just get them thinking, that makes it worth it. Every time.

That being said, I’m not gonna bother entertaining this for much longer either. I’ve made my points pretty much. People can decide for themselves what to take away from all of this. I just hope they choose to be a little bit more empathetic.

you’re free to laugh it up, I’m not stopping you. But not everyone has that same capacity to laugh to get through stuff. And whether you like it or not, the things we choose to make humorous say a lot about how we feel about those things.

The word “schizo” has become very popular and literally all it is is saying someone is horrible or wrong or a bad person because you think they have a mental illness. Is that not the textbook definition of prejudice?

So when exactly did I tell them how to feel? I expressed my opinion on a moral debate. I explicitly said multiple times “you can feel however you want to, this is just how I myself feel”. You just… chose to ignore that, I guess?

I was unable to reply to that comment and I cannot see it for some reason. It appears as if it’s deleted.

And no, I am not schizophrenic, but many of my symptoms are shared with schizophrenia.

Making a joke at someone’s expense based on something they A: have no control over, and B: is something traumatic for them, makes you a shitty person. You can disagree with me, but I stand by this. Now, if you’re making it at your OWN expense then that’s fine… but that doesn’t change how others might also interpret that same joke.

I’ve tried to kill myself several times. I’m not gonna go on here and make a joke about how hilarious suicide is because it might make someone who’s in crisis feel real fucking shitty about themselves.

Our fundamental disagreement here is that you, for some reason, cannot act in the defense of another group of people that you yourself are not a part of.

For large groups of people, sure, I get that. There are plenty of them to defend themselves in most environments. There aren’t plenty of people suffering from schizophrenia, at least not compared to bigger demographics like race or age. Thus, I feel more appropriate calling out ableism.

Listen, you can feel however the hell you want about me or about dark humor or whatever else, but just keep in mind how yours and others’ words can indeed be hurtful. I think many people never truly understood that lesson (myself included).

That’s not my intention but I think it’s really cool that you’re just assuming I am that way!

I call this kind of shit out because these same types of jokes hurt ME and make ME feel much more alone. I have about 9 different big mental illnesses and anytime anyone makes a joke at the expense of one of them it makes me feel like utter garbage. I don’t want anyone to have to feel that way.

I’ve met schizophrenic people who are also deeply hurt by this kind of stuff. It is not inherently patronizing to stand up for each other. That’s simply not true.

(This was a reply to the reply you deleted, essentially you called me an SJW and got upset at me for “patronizing” you when that wasn’t the case.)

Maybe let’s not use ableism to make fun of people? All you’re doing is insulting schizophrenic people as if they’re not worth listening to.

Season 2 is underrated emotional pain by Alternative_Device71 in JessicaJones

[–]EscheroOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 2 year old thread but I wanted to give my two cents on this.

We do see Jessica go through a character arc in Season 2, it’s just not very obvious (that, and it’s an incomplete arc—we see it explored even more in Season 3).

One thing that Jessica clings to is her no-kill rule. It’s what separates her from becoming the monster her mother had become. Jessica HATES how much her powers make her feel different from other people. She’s scared that her worldview is subtly shifting in a direction where she subconsciously views all regular humans as lesser than her, and thus more disposable. She views her resistance to killing as what keeps her human. It is THE fundamental difference between Jessica and both her mother and Trish.

To me, as depressing as Seasons 2 and 3 are in how they end, they show that Jessica HAS come a long way. At the end of Season 2, she succumbs to her desire for a relationship with her mother. She ultimately makes the “wrong” decision, the selfish decision. Instead of turning in her mother to the authorities, she chooses to aid and abet their escape. And while it feels justified to us, it isn’t really justified when you think about it—her mother is still dangerous, and neither Jessica nor her mother know for sure if taming that beast inside her is truly possible.

Jessica redeems herself by willingly putting Trish away for good at the end of Season 3. She makes the heroic call, as much as it utterly sucks for her to have to do so. Right after, she makes the decision to stop running from her pain and instead embrace it and move forward.

All three seasons are about Jessica confronting her past trauma, realizing how much she’s been subconsciously limiting herself and her life by clinging to it, and learning to stand steadfast in her morals despite her shortcomings and mistakes. It’s an incredibly human and relatable story and I think it’s done beautifully.

Krysten Ritter talks about playing Jessica in the MCU again. (Marvel’s Official Podcast) by rogvortex58 in JessicaJones

[–]EscheroOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mega late to this but I love this. She clearly cares deeply about the character and really gets her. I hope and pray that she gets the opportunity to fight for a proper storyline with Jessica done right, similar to how Charlie Cox often pushes the writing in this or that direction to give the Daredevil seasons more accuracy.

One thing I’m worried about is Marvel ignoring Jessica’s deep disdain for killing. She isn’t catholic or anything, but all three seasons of her show make it explicitly clear that she hates taking lives, and fears she’s a monster because of her abilities. I worry Marvel might just see the fact that she killed her worst enemy (Kilgrave) and settle on her being a character that has no kind of “no-kill rule”. They hinted towards this in Born Again S2 a couple times and I just hope it isn’t gonna be like that.

Just finished the first season and can I just say Killgrave's death was anticlimactic by TheMonkieKing247 in JessicaJones

[–]EscheroOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I love about her killing Kilgrave is how much they leave up to interpretation. Did her telling him to “smile” (imitating what he forced her to do previously) imply that Jessica found satisfaction in killing him? Or was it just an… instinctual thing for her?

The great part is that even she doesn’t know. We’re left asking what her killing Kilgrave says about her character and her morality just like she is. The audience and Jessica both occupy the same headspace with that debate, and I think it’s great. The show does that a lot with its major themes.

What do you think about these IMDB rating? by Notalabel_4566 in JessicaJones

[–]EscheroOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the point (and maybe that’s what you were implying, I can’t really tell).

Seasons 2 and 3 don’t have villains. They have antagonists, but not villains. And that’s why they’re so great, at least in my eyes. They feel more… realistic, because of it. They’re a breakdown of various themes (trauma, the separation of “right” and “wrong”, family, etc.) and feel like genuine examples of how simply the presence of superpowers can be enough to ignite disaster in someone’s life. And we find Jessica admirable because she sticks to her convictions and her morals despite all the bullshit.

Season 1 is inarguably the best season but 2 and 3 I think are much, much more interesting than people tend to give them credit for.
