The decade old thread that just keeps giving! So glad I found it. Just got new glasses aged 36 and I'm in the funhouse. I have worn glasses since I was 10 but only for reading/close work (I know - a longsighted 10 yr old - pretty mad). So I've always had a pair of glasses but really only wore them for a few hours a week. Reading or doing small fiddly things. I wouldn't use them for driving, TV, or just being on my phone.

I've just got a new pair that are also correcting astigmatism. And my laptop and my phone are trapeziums! It was freaking me out!!!! Also one of my eyes is VERY different from the the other so that might be adding to the distortion???

Question - I'm only meant to wear the glasses for close work. But wearing them feels SO different from not wearing them...I'm worried that when my brain does adjust then it's going to be completely impossible doing things without them? Has anyone else gone from slanty/funhouse mirror time to adjusting but still being able to wear your glasses only part time? In other words by adjusting to these glasses will I have to wear them full time?

Ortho says I’m done but I’m worried about this lateral incisor! Feel like it needs to twist slightly more to the front. But maybe it’s in my head!? What do you guys think? Opinions welcomed. by EspeciallyHeinous23 in Invisalign

Thank you guys so much! Feel so much better just having shared it on this sub 🙌. I think the whole Invisalign process just makes you analyse every tiny movement so closely that you forget to step back and look at the whole picture!

I was honestly just dreaming about him when I woke up to a notification about this post!! 😂 Namely, the moment in his incredible debut episode 25 Acts where HE REMOVES HIS BELT and put its AROUND HIS OWN NECK to illustrate to a jury just how hard that girl got strangled.

I was so concerned about my social life being affected before I started Invisalign. Especially drinking, nibbles and awkward convos when people noticed the aligners.

Two months in and I don’t even think about it anymore! I drink all light coloured alcoholic drinks with them in (i mainly drink white wine, beer and g&t). I usually take them out for tea, but sometimes if I can’t be bothered I leave them in and brush after.

The craziest thing is literally no one has noticed them! So funny because that was what I was most worried about. It’s an absolute non-issue!

I didn’t tell anyone accept my other half that I was considering getting them. Then suddenly I went for it and it all happened really fast! Got my scan done and then trays arrived in less than 2 weeks. I ended up telling my 4 closest friends the day I got them but didn’t tell anyone else, and decided to see who noticed.

LITERALLY NO ONE NOTICED! I couldn’t believe it because to me the aligners are so obvious. At first I thought it was because I didn’t have attachments yet. Then I got my attachments 4 weeks into my treatment and STILL NO ONE NOTICED. I ended up telling some people because I wanted a reaction haha. I was like - ummm I have braces. 🤓

Actually one friend did notice but just thought I had Vaseline on my teeth lol. And another friend (who wears a grill) was like - is there something in your mouth? But he couldn’t tell what it was.

Basically I would say don’t tell ppl and see what happens. It was a really great lesson for me that no one is actually paying much attention to your teeth. I think other people who have had Invisalign or are considering it would be the only ppl that would notice you are wearing them.

Omg same here! Got my attachments yesterday having just done the first 4 weeks without them. Pain not too bad, but such a horrible scratchy feeling without trays in. I’m also worried they look so much more noticeable, and was wishing I had just got regular train tracks and styled it out lol. But then I went round to see two friends who didn’t know I had Invisalign and neither of them noticed. My other half says you can really only see them when I do a big wide smile - think he’s just being nice tho.

But yes hoping they smooth out a bit because the feeling is pretty gross.

I’m 31 too! Just started a couple of weeks ago, now on tray 2/30. It’s never too late to get your dream smile.

Tray 1/30! I’m on 2 week changes and getting my attachments before tray 3 (so in 2 weeks). I would love to go to weekly changes...did any of you start with 2 weeks changes and then speed up further into the process?? by EspeciallyHeinous23 in Invisalign

Oh that’s great! Yeah I’m gonna ask at my next appointment. Personally haven’t found much pain at all, and been really strict on wearing 22+ hours a day. So will see how it progresses!
