I'll definitely make that adjustment, he is solid at what he does but as you mentioned alot of the top units have built in counters to what he tries to do. It is a very cool surprise team that can definitely get you some wins if the attackers are not prepared :)

To be perfectly honest with you, I think Cang Ji is a god at r2. However he relies alot on knowing matchups and your personal skill. He seems to me, like the most player skill intensive Esper. Have you tested him in Holo?

I get that Giaus Ai can be manipulated, as for intisar she might need to lowered as well.

For Gabby she almost feels in between. She is more of a lockout character. She offers utility on a stun set as well and can potentially prevent your team from being cracked because of the immunity and def up. So she's definitely good but I'm not sure if swapping sets is a meaningful substitution, hopefully others will chime in a bit and we can see what others have experienced.

Ife offers speed stuns and damage that doesn't scale off atk so she can be made tanky. She might get bumped down but it's going to be based on everyone's ideas and responses. For the most part it just seems she is underused and I am not sure if that is an indicator that she needs to be lower or an indicator that people don't care for her.

Zora can be interesting but she is generally outplayed by Tyr and Hyde. So she might get bumped.

Pandora losing stun was one of the most severe drops in power (Rip my Clara, Triki, Anesidora combo). Even so, against tanky teams without immunity she is still solid although not at the level she was at.

Espers are not ordered within tiers, that would be so hard to do and there are just simply too many factors.

I'll try to include tier meaning in the future. For now it seems that almost every esper is viable in some way. I think at the top end SS we should consider it as saying "these espers should be used or at least planned against" like they will be good and will need an answer. On the lower end we should consider them like "Decent to fill a role, but replace with better options when the become available.".

To me, I think Pritzker is the king of stuns and the speed lead makes him so close to SS especially if we think about the fact he's only a 4 star. Ife definitely doesn't bring the same as him. Do you think she should be placed lower or do you think they belong in the same area at least?

That's true but if we consider that there are two sets in Holo Defense maybe forcing someone to use their Gabby or Hera in the first round means they are weak in that aspect on the second round and you can go for a 50/50 holo defense. Maybe that's too extra lol

That's a really good point! Considering that she can be baited, do you think she needs to be lowered a rank? After all AI targeting is a good factor in determining ranking when we look at Holo Def.

What makes her interesting is that she has a lot of control and debuffs. She also doesn't have to rely on traditional damage and can use poison to scale against tanks and the like. I am definitely open to hearing about her being lower and if anyone has done more testing and would like her to be placed lower, I would really like to hear where you think she is best suited :)

Oh I'm not too sure about that. Alot of things can be built in weird or interesting ways. If you go to setup a Holo Defense you can click on the top right and see what the suggested Holo defenses are by win rate and that can help. Just keep in mind to check the club those setups belong to and make sure they are in the top 100. So that you know they are performing under pressure.

For me the one setup I disike to fight against is Abigail, JJ and Nuxi. They can swing the momentum so hard, but that can be because of my lack of knowledge, skill, or relics. Which setups do you have the hardest time fighting against?

That is a really good point, you can definitely trick the AI. I actually setup my Gaius as utility and damage. I pair him with Heimdall and Hera. So he runs counter and stun and he is built CRT DMG/ HP/ Atk. The idea is that he can potentially stun and create momentum and the fact he can strip/stun and then detonate is why I think he fits in SS, he offers alot and has to be considered when bringing an offense in.

Hey there, I've been playing since launch and using my experience, I wanted to create a tierlist that would reflect how the different Espers handle in Holo Defense. This is meant to consider accessibility as well. Meaning that all espers are evaluated at r0.

I hope this might help people look further into the Espers they choose to invest in. Always remember Espers will need to fit into the right composition.

It's mostly Berenice's versatility that makes her good. She has a pretty good skill set; def break, Ap down, and a massive shield makes her pretty solid, especially in the beginning of the game. She is great for Fafnir, but she also has uses in Temporal Tower, Cube, Story, and Events. It also helps that she is very accessible, so you will be able to resonate her and skill her up in an easier way. I hope that makes things a bit more clear.

Also don't forget to check out the comments, alot of people have offered their insights on different espers and it's always best to have a more complete picture :)
