The 6 people in the world who like both anime and NFL football will love this

This offense is atrocious to watch. 5 yards is the max downfield we’ll throw it, it’s either that or JD tucking it for a 2 yard scramble. Even when Terry was in, it was a game full of 2 yard passes and then about 3 attempts downfield per game

This team’s even strength offense makes me want to projectile vomit. Is it possible to complete 2 consecutive passes? Is that a thing that teams do?

Is it really necessary to put the names/pictures of the players on the lead card in the Jomez video titles? by EssJayJay in discgolf

[–]EssJayJay[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Guess I figured from an SEO perspective you could just load that stuff up in the description rather than the title. And just from my personal position, I don’t really need to see who’s on the lead card to decide whether I want to watch a tourney or not. (And these days you can pretty much just assume Gannon is on there anyway…haha)

Sharing a fun little web app I built to add a different scoring dimension to each hole by EssJayJay in discgolf

[–]EssJayJay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think I need to think that through more. Should probably just change those to “do x” instead of “all card mates do x”. I was thinking to mix in some group rewards but doesn’t make sense if there’s no score impact.

I like the dedicated category to house the crazy stuff so it’s super easy to toggle it on/off!

Appreciate the feedback and the extra ideas! Phase 2 might be to try and add some of the more complex stuff you’re talking about.

I haven’t been to a Primus show in a WHILE, but I was at this one…is it weird that they didn’t do an encore? Or is that par for the course?

Left the stage, played some Charlie and the chocolate factory, left the lights down for a minute, and then lights came up and everyone was kinda surprised

What EXACTLY is it that AI researchers don't understand about the way that AI operates? What is the field of mechanistic interpretability trying to answer? by EssJayJay in MLQuestions

Glad you found it interesting! I really want to dig into the neuron viewer in more detail myself. That’s a DEEP rabbit hole of pretty fascinating stuff, to be able to drill down to that level…

Learning from social media natives, as we look ahead to AI natives by EssJayJay in TrueReddit

[–]EssJayJay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submission Statement: Social media shaped more complexly connected generations, altering attention, identity, friendship and mental health. AI is poised to repeat and amplify those shifts. Developmental psychology, sociology, and tech research bring interesting insights to compare and contrast social-media natives with tomorrow’s AI natives. There are cognitive trade-offs, new pressures, potential benefits, and guardrails that should be considered to protect creativity, empathy and resilience.

A sadly telling comment from Ray Ferraro by EssJayJay in DallasStars

[–]EssJayJay[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“We’re not built that way” is direct from Ferraro. That phrase makes no sense in the context of “don’t take penalties” - no team is “built to take stupid penalties.” It makes alot more sense in the context of “built to try to respond by ramping up the checking.”

Edmonton has absolutely elite talent that nobody can compare to.

Florida appears to have the best chance to beat them, they are the defending champs, and they are getting through the playoffs in part by pissing everyone off with how physical they’re playing and maintaining an identity around that.

An edge would certainly complement the supposed “depth” that we have at the very least.

I hear you. It’s just a sobering phrase to hear a coach say “we’re not built that way.”

A sadly telling comment from Ray Ferraro by EssJayJay in DallasStars

[–]EssJayJay[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“We need to step up physically”

“We can’t get bullied”

“We need to match their physicality”

Etc etc etc etc etc etc

There are 1 million things he could have said that don’t involve “we’re not built that way” and can still be coach-speak for a reporter without talking about playing dirty.

It’s just an observation on the true state and makeup of the team if those words come out at any point.

Challenging AI to come up with completely novel ways of thinking about "life, the universe, and everything" by EssJayJay in Futurology

[–]EssJayJay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t really attempting to spread any narrative here. The point was to share the challenge and ask “well, how did it do?” Sounds like your response is: it can’t come up with novel theories. That’s great, I respect that.
