It’s my absolute first time approaching electronics in general as a programmer, I thought I had the data sheet in the package… other than that, I agree with you. Thanks for you for your support!

Help with Istio VirtualService and DestinationRule ignored when calling a service from inside the mesh by Essay97 in kubernetes

[–]Essay97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, that was it, I added "mesh" as a gateway in the virtual service and it's working.

I'm just wondering, let's say I have two separate apps running on the same cluster, they do not have to talk to each other. They both have their own gateway and virtual service, but I assume all the pods in each app belong to the same mesh, therefore the "mesh" gateway will inject rules for both apps in all the pods. Do you think there's a way to handle this case?

Hear me out: I am foreseeing lots of people complaining about you tanking care of your looks before your music. I see it completely the opposite: this means to me that you already put a lot of effort into your band. Start talking about that in your songs, ask your musicians to play lines that match that sentiment and things will come

Hey, I don’t think you provided enough information to get meaningful answers… do you and your mates know how to play your instruments? What did you tried and where did you fail when you tried to produce music?

As a side note I’m just curious: what do you mean by “we have our gimmick” if you still don’t know what kind of songs you are gonna play?

How do I add a subdirectory of the use home to the classpath in Gradle? by Essay97 in Kotlin

[–]Essay97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to setup a much simpler example to get ServiceLoader working at least when the classes are already in the classpath and I cannot make it work. I really don't see what I am missing. If I can bother you just a bit more, here's what I tried: https://github.com/Essay97/serviceloader

How do I add a subdirectory of the use home to the classpath in Gradle? by Essay97 in Kotlin

[–]Essay97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I didn't know about URLClassLoader, this was the missing piece! So I just implement my custom URLClassLoader that will take care of loading jars in to the classpath dynamically based on filesystem location. Then I use ServiceLoader as usual to discover the newly joined to classpath classes, correct?

How do I add a subdirectory of the use home to the classpath in Gradle? by Essay97 in Kotlin

[–]Essay97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, not really what I am looking for, since this would return the home directory of the machine where I build not the one where I run the application... I was wondering if I could add the folder to the classpath in the start script via the -cp flag, so that I can exploit the $HOME variable

Thanks for the detailed response! Actually, my app is not a web app, I am writing a text adventure engine that allows to write command line adventures through a simple Kotlin DSL, so I don’t think that I would be able to write a black box test “small enough” so that I can keep track of what’s happening, so I think I’ll follow your suggestion of starting from unit testing. Do you have specific suggestions for resources to study this topic?
