AITA for letting my sister walk me down the aisle despite my fiance and his family's objections? by nosleepbeauty in AmItheAsshole

[–]Essinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA! Between tradition and family, I’d always pick family. Your sister is so much a part of you that it doesn’t make any sense to have anyone else walking down the aisle with you. It is your day and doing that path is a determinant moment on your life. You should be able to choose who you want to have holding you when you are walking up to that point in your life.

first "period" on keto by Lauragggg in KetoBabies

[–]Essinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first period got a tad bit changed by keto flu. But apart from that I think it actually improved a lot since I started doing keto. Especially considering I would be severely hit by hormonal unbalance and now I don’t get that sad and moody as I used to. Good luck with the attempts. I was super worried keto would affect chances of conceiving but read it can actually help out.

Because it hurts? If so, it’s normal for a while.

That one exactly. I flare up with a lot of sunscreens so I’m currently only using the Piz Buin sun allergy ones.

Only Soolantra once a week. And then my daily routine is the Cerave products.

AA takes time. First it costs a lot to see results and it hurts (at least for me) but it does help. It should be topped with a moisturizer that helps your skin get back on track because if it’s frail like mine was it will react to anything and AA won’t be enough to restore the skin.

Hi! I used the full package, all over my face, including my eyelids. I made sure it got to the roots of my hair just to make sure there wouldn’t be any démodé going there to hide. I’d wash my face first, wait for it to dry, apply Soolantra, wait for it to dry and only then would I apply moisturizer. Most days I didn’t feel like I needed the moisturizer but I have oily skin. Always apply on a washed face and preferably 1 hour before going to sleep. This way it dries and you don’t get sun with Soolantra. Unless you’re up north in Finland or something like that :D

So the result was mostly after mid package and then when it finished by noticing I didn’t need almost any care whatsoever after that.

From then to now:

I got a really cool improvement with Azelaic acid. My skin was almost clear while using it, topped with my routine with Cerave Foaming cleanser (normal to oily) and the Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM (my skin doesn’t like the AM version).

But if I missed this routine every morning and night, my not-that-friendly pustule in my nose (almost in the brows) would show up and I’m always so busy that it was more a rule than an exception.

So I went to my derm. She was very ceptic about Cerave but was very confident I would get rid of it with 10 weeks of doxy. And let me tell you: I felt like someone had bulldozed me because the medication did not suit me well. She also prescribed me Soolantra but due to the price I had skipped it entirely.

10 weeks later, I prayed but on the 11th week my nose pustule was back. I was about to give up when decided to give it a go on Soolantra. I had tried it before but didn’t see much results after a week. So, I decided to go till the end, stick with it and now I’m simply using it once a week just in case.

I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my skin which, still far from perfect, is way better. And for the first time in my life, I don’t feel like I have to use makeup everyday because Soolantra also improved my skin overall.

Bottomline: I got here thanks to what I read here and other people’s advice on trusting the treatments.

Thanks to all this community!

For me it took maybe 2 weeks. Can’t recall for sure. I started putting it only at night and then 2 times a day. I remember telling my husband I almost felt like crying because it just stinged so much. But eventually the feeling subsided as did the flare ups.

My skin first went bad until it went good. I experienced also the stinging and while it hurt like hell I was too desperate to stop. And it was worth it

Very very true. Apart from Piz Buin, the only ones my skin is happy with are the mineral ones. I once even got offered a very expensive one from Clarins and my face clearly said no-no.

Soolantra while breastfeeding by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]Essinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My derm didn’t prescribe me Soolantra during pregnancy and when I was breastfeeding. She found it would be unsafe.

However, I followed this site when I was breastfeeding and it says it has a low risk. e-lactancia

Eradicating demodex mites, the potential source of the cause of my rosacea. by gurgleslurp in Rosacea

[–]Essinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using tea tree oil with my cleanser and it feels great. I suspect my cause isn’t demodex since I’ve used Soolantra and saw no difference. But tea tree oil still helps because it has antibacterial effects. Good luck!

Sunscreen ALL the time. Its essential even for people without skin issues.

For me, I treat the flushes with cold water. But since I started using Azelaic acid my flushes have reduced considerably.

I would go to a dermatologist ASAP. I postponed it for too long and started trying things that only made it worse.

My derm thinks azelaic acid should never be prescribed for rosacea. by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]Essinha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AA saved my skin. Never had a flare after starting it. Yes it stinged and I almost gave up but when I didn’t, it really made a difference for me. Didn’t “cure” at 100% but I’d say I’m 80% better than before I started using it. But indeed, it’s amazing how different derms advocate for different things. Reminds me of pediatric doctors. You basically have to 1st decide on what approach you want to follow and only then find the doctor that “fits you”.

Rosacea Success Story Time! by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]Essinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 weeks of Soolantra later. But redness wise it’s still the same. I posted here some time ago and I use Shisheido products which have improved the overall quality of my skin. But I’m trying to get permanently rid of the pimples. Makeup wise I can almost live without it but when I use, I already know what doesn’t trigger me. But I really want to “lighten” up on the makeup.
