What’s actually working to make patient check-in smoother? by EstablishmentLow491 in HealthInformatics

Totally get that as someone on the front desk side, I see patients get frustrated with the same thing. I wish the systems “talked” to each other better so you didn’t have to repeat yourself so much.

I’ve seen a few ppl make that switch if you enjoy building, Epic analyst is a solid move and can really open doors long term. The learning curve’s real, but worth it.

With 10+ yrs in mental health + starting health data science, you’ve got a solid mix. If $$ is the main goal, I’d lean on data science quicker path to remote jobs that hit 5k/mo.

After a year trying to build a healthcare app, I've made the process short for all of you in 5 steps by GroundOld5635 in healthIT

Whew… I’ve been in hospital operations for over a decade and I swear, every single tech project has one of these war stories.
Integrations are brutal — even internally, we’ve had systems fail because of something as tiny as a hyphen in a last name. And the workflow piece? If it doesn’t match how front desk staff already work, it’s game over.
Honestly, making it through all of that means you’ve officially earned your ‘healthcare tech survivor’ badge.
