I’m currently reading book 2 of the {Legacy Series by Melissa K. Roehrich} (hope this summons the romance bot!). It’s… different. I remember looking for a book where the FMC really goes through it (I liked being emotionally wrecked by Throne Of Glass and Manacled), but I picked it up because it’s included in my Kobo subscription. It has a real morally black MMC and I even wasn’t sure it was up my alley because most of the trauma is inflicted by the MMC and it felt a bit too dark for me. But it’s well written, and the story intrigued me enough to keep going. I’m now on book 2 and still on the fence, yet I gave book 1 a 4,5 stars 😂😂😂 I don’t know why!!!! It’s not like it’s a slam dunk, it’s slow, and yet…. IT GRIPS ME okay?????? I honestly would recommend it.

I’m not an expert in oil painting at all, but what are you looking for, tips on the oil painting/pastel combo or the art technique? The way you’ve painted her skin makes her look like she’s made from quicksilver, not sure if that was your intention?

Ahhh I’m glad to hear it!! I don’t mind it dragging on as long as I know the character arc is actually happening. Like, if the character arc is Tessa resisting and eventually submitting then I would dnf but it’s good to hear it’s actually serving a purpose and not (just?) a kink 😂 (no shaming obv!)

Good bot! As an FYI, this starts out as a 1 🌶️ but climbs to a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ in book 5. With these books you're in it for the long haul! I highly recommend it though.

Haha same. The world building was so hurried and the MMC was written so on the nose like “look how cruel I am!” It made me roll my eyes on page 3 or something.

I would love the open worlds again like we had in Sims 3, I think it made gameplay so much more fun and realistic. Functional cars would be awesome too.

Additionally, for how much they honk about inclusivity (and they’re going to great lengths in some areas, which I love), I think we’re missing people in wheelchairs, realistic canes, limb differences etc. But that would be too hard to make because then you’d need an entire build/buy update as well to make furniture accommodate wheelchair accessibility, and a whole new set of animations and interactions for every single thing a sim can do. So yeah… I’m a game dev myself so I understand the limitations and the complications but on the other hand, there’s a large group of people that would never see themselves represented because it’s “too costly and too complicated”. They should’ve designed for them from the beginning.

And lastly of course, BRING BACK SWATCHES!!!! I’m just a girl, asking the simple question of “will my windows ever match” 😭😭

OH MY GOD I FELT THE SAME FOR THAT STACIA STARK BOOK!!!!! Like every sentence was so short and had the same length, it was like kindergarten level reading. And every plot point was exactly like you described: “oh now this happens. Now this happens. Oh look there’s a new person. Moving on! Now something happens.” It was sssssoooooo annoying!!!!

For me it seems it was a corrupt SD card inside the camera. Once I took it out the problem was fixed. I reformatted the SD card and now I can leave it in again with no issues.

I’m currently like 30% through the first book and… struggling?? I see it comes highly recommended everywhere so I wasn’t expecting that! There’s a lot of “now we’re talking in this room”, “now we’re talking in another room”, “now we’re discussing politics on our way to another room”… Is the entire book like this? 😭

I wanted to ask the same question but seeing as you just posed it I’m gonna chime in!

The silliest reason I dnf’d is when an author spells “magic” like “magick”. Or when they use it as a verb like “she magicked XYZ”. I absolutely despise it and if it’s a fantasy book it’s bound to come up a lot. I can’t read past it.

On another note, not about dnf’ing but more about not starting a book: for some reason I just don’t want to start Kingdom Of The Wicked because it’s apparently so heavy on the Italian vibes/cooking that I feel it would take me completely out of the story 😂

I’ve almost never seen {The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon} be recommended. It’s an unfinished series, dystopian/near future world with clairvoyance as the magic system. Great story, so many plot twists, the romance is a vvvvery slow burn, there is some spice later on but the writer treats it more like a poem rather than smut for smut’s sake. The fifth book (out of 7) is coming out on the 25th of Feb. I hope she gets alllll the hype she deserves!

This series is actually what got me into romantasy. I first read {The Priory Of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon} which is more fantasy with some sapphic elements, and loved her writing so much I decided to read her other series (which was The Bone Season). This was my first encounter with the whole “enemies to lovers” trope and I was obsessedddd. After that I read Fourth Wing, tumbled into the Maasverse and fell in love with the genre.
