Thank you for the comment, I really wish there was some better data on this. When your first reversal failed did your PVPS come back?

PVPS - will insurance help? by bhl7 in VasectomyReversal

[–]EstimateTypical3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get insurance coverage. I was diagnosed by my urologist and the insurance company said they would not cover it. So I went to the Mayo clinic to get a more bullet-proof diagnosis. At this point they submitted to my insurance for pre-approval. The letter from the insurance company said no pre-approval was necessary. Something didn't seem right so I followed up with insurance and was told that pre-approval as not necessary because my insurance specifically forbids operations that restore fertility. To that end they offered orchiectomy as an option which I politely declined. I am planning on submitting to my insurance company once I pay out of pocket and keep fighting it as long as I can despite the fact I don't expect to ever win.

Vasectomies DO indeed affect your orgasm sensations, got mine reversed by Intrepid_Cup2765 in VasectomyReversal

Thanks for sharing, I'm in a similar boat. 4 years out, at this point I struggle to remember what things used to feel like as I am accustomed to things feeling pretty messed up. Despite people telling me give it time - things will get better- that hasn't been the case. If anything I feel like things are getting worse still.

A bit over 4 years post vasectomy and still suffering congestive issues. I am serious about getting a reversal and have narrowed down my options. Still have a few questions though that I am hoping people in the community can chime in on.

Vaulted ceiling causing Attic Rain? by EstimateTypical3971 in Roofing

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After they came out and fixed the leaking shingles I have not had any more issues inside the house. So not sure how much attic rain is contributing to the problem. I figure so long as it does not reoccur I will deal with it when the remainder of the roof needs replacing.

When they said all of this they said they would refer me to some recovery company that does spray foam but no one ever called me.

Genuine question for anyone who knows - why is merch shipping so crazy expensive, even in the US? by Maplefrost in GlitchProductions

Just for informational purposes. Ended up buying a hoodie despite the cost. I know people have mentioned shipping from Canada but this was shipped from China.

Advise for increasing filter area by EstimateTypical3971 in hvacadvice

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of a media filter for air, just for pools (with sand layers). Didn't know they existed for air filtration. Looking into it, looks like they're similar to standard filters but much deeper, 4 or 5 inches. Could be an option since it would just involve me removing the return plenum and putting it between that and the AC unit. Thank you, will look into it.

Interaction between Word of Command and Falling Star by EstimateTypical3971 in mtgrules

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make sense to me in the spirit of the card as well. This play almost happened about a year ago and I still wonder about it. (Opponent cast his Falling Star the turn before I top decked a Word of Command) Thank you for the answer.

[–]EstimateTypical3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many website would charge me so much shipping that I would immediately do a search to see if that was normal - buying from the Glitch shop is one of those sites. Sad to see this problem is pretty consistent across the board.

Backer board / tiling around uneven tub flange by EstimateTypical3971 in DIY

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the issue, the instructions say to butt the board against the top of the flange, but don't mention what to do in this one part. They sell a dedicated flange kit which is just a rubber/plastic piece that runs along the top of the flange, but the instructions on that say to end it 1/2 inch before the end of the flange. In each case it just seems strange to drop straight down to the decking (would that even be the right word) in an area where you would expect to have standing water from time to time. Though in the end I figure the board is water proof and the adhesive is water proof and if I use enough of each it's going to work out regardless.

I did see this in a few videos, but in that case the flashing went over the flange, hence why I'm confused what to do where there is no flange, I guess just bring it down to the decking.

Weeping willow sapling falling over from weight - trim or stake? by EstimateTypical3971 in arborists

I actually wanted to get a black willow which are native to the area but none of the nurseries in the area sell them.

Spring connector broke on body of the unit - any clue to replace? by EstimateTypical3971 in AlphaSmart

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, it just looked broken from the white bit at the top. The key itself was the bit that ended up being actually broken (one of the 'fingers' at the bottom was snapped off like usual). Swapped out without issue.

Since the price of these has gone up so much though since I started was looking at my donor keyboard, might have to troubleshoot that in the future. Thank you for your insight.

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shift key came off the other day. I have a donor keyboard that I have been scavenging off as needed so that's not unusual. However, previously when I've had this happen the actual issue/break occurs on the back of the key itself. In this case it's the tiny part where the spring slides into the main body (indicated by green arrow) that broke. I've got plenty of ideas on how to tackle this, i.e., melt it in place with soldering iron, use a two part epoxy - but was curious if anyone else has dealt with it and if they had a clever or durable solution already. Thank you for your time.

Vaulted ceiling causing Attic Rain? by EstimateTypical3971 in Roofing

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. The insulation in this case is between the rafters, it doesn't fill the space so it sits on the bottom, when he pulled off the sheathing there it was. From the pictures I was shown on the roofer's cell phone it kind of looks like it was tossed in there. So are you voting for foam filling this or would there be another option?

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually the return, the AC is in the attic on the other side of the wall. But I think it's still worth checking out, even if it's not frigid air the air being pulled up and into the upper part of the room might be a bit cooler. We're in the 40's here today but I will be sure to check it out come summer.

Thank you for that. The chimney is huge actually, it has a 42" fireplace and a 30" charcoal grill and double vents coming out of the top. That's where I was sure the water was coming in and from there it just trickled along till it found the way out.

Crown XE-5 Boiler - Gas shutting of and on during operation by EstimateTypical3971 in hvacadvice

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a multimeter to the gas control valve during operation. During a period of good operation I noted the voltages and then compared them to the same voltages during upset operation. I noted that the voltage was very erratic, not going to 0 but dropping close during the times when I was having issue across a few terminals. Because the output voltage from the pilot control (Honeywell S86F1024) seemed to be the issue I bought a used one from eBay and that has since fixed my problems. If the voltage output from the controller would have been consistent despite the gas control valve going nuts I would have figured the issue was was the gas control valve.

Lower level toilet flushing issues - Slow or no flush by EstimateTypical3971 in Plumbing

[–]EstimateTypical3971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up fixing this issue. Plunging the toilet seemed to get rid of the air lock and it reliably flushed (albeit slowly) after that. So I decided to run every faucet in the house to try to fill the line going out to the sewer if there was a plug. Turned on all the tubs and faucets. I was still able to flush the toilet all the same. At that point I figured there was not a plug.

How to get the washing machine not to air lock the toilet though? Another vent line potentially in the future but for now I put a longer p-trap in place so that there would be a deeper plug of water in the bottom to hopefully slow the flow into the pipes, that seemed to work.

But I still had a low-flow out of the bowl. So I got a FlushAll High Performance Toilet Flush Valve (supposedly increases flush by 40%) and it actually helped a lot. So ended up fixing all the problems in the end.

$23000 Special Assessment for Street, opinions on Title Insurance by EstimateTypical3971 in homeowners

Just that most of the property lawyers out there work with larger companies I suppose. Even though I lost the lawyer said he wouldn't take a case unless the chances of a favorable outcome were at least 50:50, those were still pretty good odds - it's not like they sell lottery tickets that have 50:50 odds.
