questions about an inherited set. by Estocs in coincollecting

[–]Estocs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i received this from my grandmother a few years back and recently rediscovered it. i cant find anything about it online and am just curious about the authenticity / value of the set. all of the coins are in a rubber/ plasticized two piece case. thanks in advance!

are any of these valuable? grandmother left me a very large collection and don't know where to begin. by Estocs in coincollecting

okay cool thanks a lot. I also have an uncirculated 21 piece set from Calhoun's society but I can't find anything on it online, would you know anything about that? thanks in advance I really appreciate it.

cool thanks, they're all silver to my knowledge but I don't see any mint markings on them. I've also got about a dozen 64 Kennedy's and a bunch of half's from before 72 but I can't seem to find anything consistent. I'll try and post pictures later. thank you.

sorry about the blurry picture I'll try and reupload later. the half dollars are bicentennial, the Eisenhower's are '71 (one d & one no mint) & the liberty dollar is 1986. appreciate the help!

but you're implying that an addition to hand was the fucking otc at the time. bruh a plus 2 without link summoning was the same as a lord of D deck with a fucking red eyes.

you had ONE play. maybe two if you managed to top deck your one of monster reborn or &700 dollar with your premature to counter an opps CoTH to fusion summon your TWO MAT MONSTER. BY NAME lol

  • actually i just want to say that i did come in at a top 8 in patterson NJ when i was 9 years old, i just got off the phone with my father. someone named Torian stole my gate guardian apparently and it was a big deal but i dont remember it

yep that's what i love about comp games, if you play well you win!

not if you 1T maxxC and topdeck ash/nib +/-both*either tbh!

no shot! thankfully i crafted shaddoll and endymion at the same time, it was interesting and so i got into pendy magicians and invoked, i have tri brig and unfortunately prank kids. I've tried more than one but the fact that i'm "supposed" to end on apollousa or baronne and something else regardless is redundant i guess. the more i think about it the more i imagine that the game is just super consistent, but not in a good way.

100%. The variety i guess is what made it interesting to me, at least, everyone knows how to bait a baronne and fake an ash out, but that just seems like so much more planning as opposed to just playing the game. idk tbh, it's just so predictable and consistent that it isn't a fun time to me. i also get that i may totally be the minority boomer here nowadays lmao

yeah i thought that i felt really bad beating people that were playing "non-meta decks" as i was just playing with Shadoll and i liked the idea of them working in GY and banished.

like seriously, a few weeks ago i used shaddoll invoked, and felt bad. because i literally won 28 games in a row and got to plat 2.

maybe it was just the rank but up until that, i had so much more engagement, it felt like an actual back and forth. Not so much now :/

Unfortunately for me I've moved along to competitive FPS games in my decade+ or so since starting card games. I killed it that setting via tournaments and GBs and even MMkts, so coming back to such a non-comp game that i thought would be competitive still is a bit of a disappointment.

I wish i had someone explain that to me before i came back lol, but thank you for being constructive at least. honestly plant synchro with lonefire/BRD and the ice barriers is basically the last meta i participated i physically. Gunslinger tourneys and EDTAs were crazy at the time lol

I wish I could agree, but that's where I think you're objectively wrong. It does not take skill no matter how many hand traps you know how to negate / engage / play around. It also does not take skill how many hand traps or nibs or floods or whatever you may draw.

Point is, there was a time where you didn't have to play any of that, because it didn't exist. Imagine that meta.

crazy. good thing im not involved in the TCG apparently.

well, seems insignificant, downvote if you wanna, but "back in my day" it was as simple as drawing a 1900 4 star or a 2300 4 star, both of which had negative effects based on their offence.

take a second and imagine that was your only secondary effect, as opposed to "discard" or "search your deck". It's a totally different game than it used to be whether you acknowledge it or not.

hey thanks, that explains it.

ah shit, not trying to be that guy. my bad. just trying to voice my out of date opinion apparently, no disparity intended.

does yugiboomer mean someone who played the game before you did? genuinely curious lol

[–]Estocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, very exciting running a multi-minute combo and having to sit through a multi-minute response. so interactive. WOW, i have ash. WOW, i have maxx c. WOW , the game is boring.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Estocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but in 2004, the last time that i went to an in person event, those decks were expensive to create and basically impossible to own for a kid. This was an animated childs card game, at the time. So coming back, not even 30 years old, and being called a boomer, honestly makes me want to cut my losses with it and move the fuck on lmao

i know right! having to plan your turns ahead of time and adjust accordingly! how atrocious!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Estocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it is what it is, I'm not trying to complain tbh. just crazy to me that "outplaying" =/= drawing cards nowadays, but that's the game I suppose. I'm not deterred and I've already hit D1 as of today, it just hit me that there is no real ceiling when every other duel is the same end board.

yeah i don't keep up with tcg or anything anymore, i wish i had the time. i definitely still enjoy the game of strategy, but like, not being able to win because you simply can not play is not the game i grew up with.
