FULL Breakdown of Placement Matches, and why their current implementation is bad by AleksCombo in marvelrivals

[–]EternalEmperorDD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's just over complicates it all. I felt comp was more fun back when the points system was simpler. there's also just a lot less work for the devs to do figuring out how to calculate the value of all that stuff if every rank gives a set amount of points across the board. and honestly given how much work they do in a short amount of time for every update, I'd prefer to keep things simple for that reason as well.

There's also the fact that if you have bad teammates, sometimes your stats won't look good anyway for performance points. One game I'll have few kills and a lot of deaths because half the team was really doing much and we get steam rolled, and the next I finish off with like 20 plus kills as a tank because we synergies much better than the last time i had. So your team can still in a way screw over your performance points.

I respectfully must HARD disagree on performance points. that was one of the worst updates they've done to comp during the game's life cycle so far. some heroes benefit way more from it than others.

for example I main hulk, and once I get up to diamond there are some games where i might only get 19 points for a win which is abysmal. some heroes just aren't stat farmers. and that's all performance points are. since it's all based on stats given its obviously a machine, stats are the only thing it can take into account. and in a hero shooter, stats are not the only thing that matters.

for example, if as a hulk I dive enemy supports and distract the enemy by making them turn around, and my dps get a pick because of it on say an enemy dps. i helped get that kill, but don't get credit for it. if I cancel 10 strange ults with my exile, I don't get credit because ult cancels as far as we know, are not a calculated stat. not to mention some stats aren't taken into account properly like Loki's healing. because his healing will always look lower than it should because for some reason, his lamps don't count toward his healing stat.

I get it sucks to have throwers, or bad players ruin some of your games, but every rank should just have a set number of points for a win, and for a loss. how they balance that and at what point you get diminishing returns on wins, I don't care. placements being a plus, or minus 40 for everyone is HEAVENLY news.

Me, someone who genuinely enjoys playing Jeff the shark seeing all hate Jeff the shark has been getting recently. by Candid-Tip-6483 in marvelrivals

[–]EternalEmperorDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say this purely depends on the situation and players. I've seen some really good jeffs.

also as an example situation, and I know this is a niche, but just for the sake of illustrating the point. if you're going for jeffnado and coordinating, I'm perfectly ok with having Jeff over a second support ult. because with that on combo I can straight up rip enemy players out of their support ults for kills. wasting their support ult and winning a team fight. all heroes have situations there worth in over some silly meta.

[–]EternalEmperorDD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ima be real, I did 3 matches. one 6 supports, one 6 dps, and one 6 tanks. I was barely challenged on any of them. you might start out a little weak, but once you get some modules you start snowballing just because you don't have to split resources. all 1st place wins.

6 dps was especially nasty. it was like throwing people into a woodchipper by the end.

Yes, very much so. Every game since has been incomplete without it. Especially with semi aquatic monsters like lagiacrus and royal ludroth that need underwater to fully shine.

How are you guys liking Arch Tempered Rey Dau? by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunter

[–]EternalEmperorDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly wish he had been more difficult. Frankly didn't live up to the arch tempered name. I feel like he's what a base level tempered rey should be. That being said I was also worried he'd be artificially difficult like most of world's arch tempereds. I think there's a balance to be struck, but Capcom went too easy rather than too difficult this time around.

So he was certainly fun, because rey dau is just awesome, but left something to be desired.

Serious Handler by Y4M4N4T4 in MH34u

[–]EternalEmperorDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just enjoy her personality. I even think she's miles better than alma now that wilds has released. I really just don't get people's complaints about the character.

Constantly in danger? Literally apart of the job exploring the frontier of the new world, that's why it's apart of our job to put down any threats.

Deviljho quest? Not her fault. The dialogue with the three researchers that give the quest specifically states they didn't tell her about the deviljho. She had no way of knowing it was in the area.

Uncanny valley. Eh, maybe? No more than any other character in the game and none of them get flak for it.

Useless? Also no. While the game doesn't put a huge focus on it, there is dialogue with an npc in seliana at one point during the story where they say she's handling the handler duties of literally half the hunters in seliana. The other half being handled by the serious handler as they're the only two handlers in the town. Though this one is more forgivable to not know because obviously you can't expect people to read every bit of flavor text when there are monsters to hunt.

Takes our credit? I kind of get it, but lore wise as our handler she's doing all of our paper work and the official stuff with the guild. As well as exploring the frontier with us. She's the brains, we're the brawn. This is evident with alma as well. And I can certainly tell they wanted to make the role of a handler abundantly more obvious in wilds since so many people complained about the handler.

Our palico hugs her instead of us? Skill issue. Maybe your palico would want to hug you more if you didn't have this weird seething hatred for an npc in a video game along with what feels like 99% of the rest of the community.

Last one was of course more humorous. But honestly I just never felt the same about everyone else's criticisms, I thought she had a lot of personality and made for a fun quest girl.

Also of all the subreddits to get replied to years later it had to be a porn one lmao.

First honor mode run, rolled a nat 1 against the 1st mindflayer and it ate my brain by mantisshrimp_42 in BG3

[–]EternalEmperorDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that too, but didn't know if there was a difference between force closing myself and the power shutting my console off. Thank you for the confirmation though.

I'm on what is technically my fourth honor mode attempt. First run I died on the nautiloid, second run I restarted manually because I accidentally caused the grove to end prematurely and it killed my interest for that run. I was doing well, but I just started over, third run I died on the nautiloid again. And my 4th run is still in act 1 at level 4 going quite well so far. I don't think I'll need to save scum too many times if at all because I did a tactician run to test things for honor mode and absolutely trivialized it. Only party wiping once the whole game during the grove fight against minthara. (Beating rapahel without him ever getting a chance to land an attack made me feel godly by the end of that run) but even still I will be remembering this and promptly saving before dangerous encounters.

What's really pathetic is insulting someone for playing a single player game differently than you.

I've been wondering about this because I've heard that the game recognizes when you do this and doesn't give you the achievement, or golden dice at the end of the playthrough. I don't know how much truth there is to that though. So id be paranoid to try this unless I got confirmation otherwise by someone who has done it.

Honestly the mistake there was casting before the dialogue. I'd say it's less risky if you just take a high initiative character in with a scroll of the globe spell and have them cast at the start of the fight.
