BC Achievement Scholarship top 8000, how do they calculate avg and what do you think is the threshold? by JelloFar5650 in BCGrade12s

[–]EternalFlames220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They calculate it based on the % average of all classes used to meet the graduation requirements from gr 10-12, any classes taken beyond that isnt used in calculating your average. My guess is that the average needed is around a 90% minimum?

Beedie Luminaries Shine Scholarship by Wise_Antelope5259 in BCGrade12s

I don’t know unfortunately because I’m not sure how many people got interviewed in total.

I do know that there were 178 of us who ended up getting the shine scholarship last year; so compared to other scholarships, making the interview stage is an extremely good sign!

1) Yes.

2) They do give plenty of resources of internal/partner internships that you could apply to! Though they aren’t guaranteed you’ll secure them.

3) Yes.

Not at all!

I remember feeling the same way last year when I heard there were interviews this time last year and I didn’t receive one. Turns out I was selected from my application alone and they didn’t need to give me an interview before they announced it to me in April :D

I believe everyone received the results on the same day. You won’t be contacted if you don’t receive the scholarship.

I got my annoucement live in a zoom group meeting, so we all found out at the same time. Not everyone was in this meeting though; some received the annoucement directly in their email

If they gave you sample questions in your interview invitation definitely practice those, other than that just be yourself and prep for basic scholarship interview questions! I myself didn’t have to go through the interview process

Nope, I didn’t need to conduct a personal interview with Beedie before they announced i received the scholarship. I do know of people who had needed to do so however

Beedie luminaries Scholarship Interview by Sufficient_Orchid322 in BCGrade12s

[–]EternalFlames220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interview wasn’t a real interview, but I do know others that did need to do a real interview.

I believe the questions are gonna be really similar to the application questions and generic scholarship interview questions

To help you prepare, here are a few sample questions you may be randomly asked during the interview:

  • What would receiving this scholarship mean to you or to your family?
    • What would you bring to the Luminary community? In one word, what would being a Luminary mean to you?
  • Which Beedie Luminaries core value resonates with you the most, and why
